22 Lariat ER - 8k miles. Biggest issue is availability of DC fast chargers in Indiana and Ohio. More specifically from Detroit to Indianapolis. So "range Anxiety" is a big issue. I also have some issues with the accuracy of the navigation. When I program "home" it will take me 2 drives past mine and then it would have my drive through the woods to my home. Spent an hour on the phone with that, no resolution, just run around. During that time I did find out I have 3 open service issues, including tailgate light bar seen in other posts and 2 for high voltage module and battery.

I turned a number of things off. Especially, Blue Cruise. I got tired of the truck slowing down to 45 at every freeway exit. And only going 65 in post 70 areas as trucks were 65.

Real minor. When I need to get out of the truck to do something, but leave the truck running (AC for the dog, whatever), I like to slide the seat back so the steering wheel is out of the way. If I shut the door, when I return to the truck and open the door, it insists on sliding my seat back to driving position. Otherwise the thing is close to perfect.
I also sometimes get out with the truck running. The way I get around this (being the only driver) is I set the #2 position on the door set positions to be all the way back and steering wheel all the way up. When I return, I just select the #1 position again. No good if others have #2 set.

2022 Platinum, star white.

I also have the center screen issue either being blank, or splash screen freeze upon starting. It has, so far, always booted up after 2-3 minutes. The major problem is lack of backup camera. I depend on it a great deal since I often park downtown and need to see "around" other trucks parked next to me.

I was told by Ford a "module" needed to be replaced, but of course, no parts availability. I believe that same defective module causes my BT with an IPhone to have poor/crackling reception on first incoming call.

I am also waiting for rear tail light replacement, mine does leak tiny amounts of water. So far, just visibly concerning.

I have had 2 major battery recalls, which take a very long time since they have to "balance" the various modules. Not sure what that means other than the truck is in the shop 4-5 days both times.

That said, I love the vehicle and picking up my 2023 Platinum on Monday morning, carbonized gray metallic this time. Only add ons are power deployed running boards and spray in bed liner. Usual deletes at this point, but heated steering wheel survived.

The charger cord door on the fender. My technique has gotten better but it still takes me three to four tries to get it to open. I've been driving EVs for years and I experienced this issue with neither my 2014 Nissan Leaf (former) nor my 2017 Chevy Bolt (current). Other folks on this forum have also complained so it's not only me dealing with the problem. It's truly annoying and while I've not yet gotten to the point of insisting on a dealer replacement I expect I will eventually...

Poor efficiency when using heat due to lack of a heat pump. (Heated steering wheel and seats should be standard on all Lightnings.)

Poor DCFC charging curve over 80%. Speeds drop in 1/2 …40-45kW max.

Don’t like traditional ICE shifter, move to stalk. I want a proper driver’s cup holder.

Eliminate start button, it’s wonky and not needed in a EV.

Can’t drive over 65 mph on highway or efficiency suffers. Until bespoke Lightning is introduced with better aerodynamics, add an eco mode. Integrate a coupler similar to E-GMP vehicles to allow for RWD/eco mode.
Amen on RWD/eco mode. That will buy ~15% more range especially suited for long trips and when high end performance is not needed.

View attachment 8469 For the most part the vibes are pretty positive when it comes to Lightning ownership on here. So for those who've owned their Lightnings for a while now and are enjoying it, what, if any, is your stand-out complaint about your truck? What one little or big would you change if you could?
After 22,000+ miles and 12 months we are watermelons pleased with our Lightning. We also have a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD that replaced an older Tesla. It is amazing how much Ford got right on its first electric F150. The only complaints we have are the air dam fault that persists even though we are current on all the updates and that the screen menus are a bit confusing compared to Tesla. I love the vertical screen as it is better ergonomically than the Tesla where you have to reach for many things on the screen and take eyes off the road. Blue Cruise is not very consistent and goes on and off too often, although Tesla’s enhanced auto pilot has issues too with cameras frequently saying they are blinded and limiting functionality. While the efficiency is half that of the Tesla that is what we expected. We have a pop up aluminum camper on the back and are always near max GVW when we take trips and we are still at 2-2.1 miles per KWh lifetime. We’ve even done some towing with a fully loaded Yakima kayak trailer and it didn’t affect range. Tires will need replacement before 30,000 miles, probably because we have a full load on it most of the time, but maintenance costs are super low even with taking it to the dealer. The leather upholstery in our Lariat ER is lower quality than it was in our earlier F150 PowerBoost Hybrid Lariat which is a bit disappointing too. But, very happy with it with few disappointments and would never go back to a gas F150.

As far as day to day experience, it’s amazing. Drives wonderfully. I love charging at home instead of getting gas. Etc.

However, for basically driving an $85k laptop with wheels, the tech is very disappointing. It’s very glitchy. 1/5 - 1/10 times, my car play doesn’t connect. The trip doesn’t reset on each start up. OTA updates are a big ol mess. I’ve received warnings about the motor being over temp twice, but apparently that’s just a glitch. On and on.
After one of the recent updates, the this trip reset bug has been corrected for me.

it sounds like you had the auto-speed-adjust feature turned on, which changes the cruise speed as the speed limit changes. That, combined with speed limit sign recognition, will cause what you described. By simply turning off the auto-speed, my Bluecruise and normal cruise keeps the speed I set.

To start with I love my truck. I would have paid more to have a EXTRA extra long range. I drive a lot (50+%) on gravel/dirt roads on the farm. That with tools, durable tires, rock flaps, etc makes me only get around a 1.6 mi/kwh. Another thing I have noticed with my use case is that it lets in a lot of dust probably the dustiest cab I’ve ever been in. I could write my name in the dash every couple days. It seems like it comes in the back behind the backseat. I’ve already taped over one of the vents and that seem to help…..

Truck very nice,I use the truck for 150 miles everyday for work and 200 Mike's on weekends for Uber Driviing.
I have a PRO version and I have 0 complaints from passengers about the truck.
I only have 2 complaints
1) Auto sync,go's in and out.
2) i can't get any ford service dealership to install a sliding rear window option.
All the parts are in the dealership ,in the parts department website but no one will install the wiring harness ,they will install the rear glass but was told the window has no manual opening option. I would like to have AC on for my dog in my truck bed with the beautiful truck cap I have installed.
I don't miss the gas station!
OH yeah I more complaint I have to up size my solar system due to charging ,I used to to have 0$ electric bill know I have to pay for electric again until I upgrade my sloar system.

1 - single hard-button toggle for 1-pedal drive. I would rather have this than ANY of the buttons currently on the steeting wheel. My Bolt has a button on the gear shift, exactly where Ford should have put one. 1-pedal is the defining, 'native' driving experience of the new EV world, its BIZARRE that Ford puts it 3-screen-clicks deep in a menu. I love it, my wife hates it, that button on the bolt is perfect, Ford's implementation is terrible.
2 - no garage door opener/button (XLT). such a zero-cost, no-downside item to throw on the ceiling, or build into one of the empty slots on the dash. twice a day - leaving in the AM, coming home at night - i have to think about how Ford decided to save very literaly a couple nickels. i understand cost and 'upselling', but a garage button is a ZERO cost item for an OEM. no excuse on any vehicle that costs over $50k.
3 - Frunk "Cooler hatch" not on a hinge. WITHOUT FAIL, if there's anything in the frunk, and you pull up on the door to reach something in the 'cooler' (i keep cargo straps there) ABSOLUTEY 100% OF THE TIME the hatch slips, misaligns and WILL NOT RETURN TO SEATED. You have to unload the frunk, reseat the hatch cover, reload the frunk. EVERYTIME. STUPID DESIGN, FORD. Unless i am missing something, the Hatch cover is the ONLY item in the whole vehicle (along with floormates, i guess) that is not secured to the full truck. It can bounce out of place, it can be removed and accidently left behind.... just a terrible design inside the truck's BEST PART, which is the awesome Frunk.

EDIT - Im no Sandy Munro, but I'd be willing to bet you could solve all three of the above issues with 4 hours of engineering and for maybe - and i'm rounding up here - $50 of extra marginal cost per truck. Probably a lot less.

23 Lariat Extended Range

1. Poor mobile phone integration - difficult to make calls - audio disconnects
2. Poor rear view camera view while driving - Full View Not Available plastered on the view
3. Limited or non-existent auto-steer in rural areas.

Really drives well - enjoying it so far.
You need to take your truck back to the dealer as my truck and ever one I know with a lightning have not had any problems..

Connectivity issues, 12v issues, heated steering wheel issues, rear light bar failed, active air dam fault, frunk fault, rotor replacement, sync issues, cruise activating at below normal threshold. All little problems that have meant constant trips to the dealer in 1 year and 25k miles.
Holy crap that's insane. I have 12k on my very early 22 pro and.... I am too afraid to complete the sentence 😂 so sorry to hear this, especially hearing the repair times people speak of. That would totally make me insane since at 50 this is my first new vehicle, and my last is a 2001 f250 7.3 that has never had a single (non wear and tear) issue in 18 years of ownership. I hate to say, I might have bailed if I were you, but then again probably not with what I paid over sticker, so early on😂😂😂 I hope things get better

I had 2001 F150 4x4 and I only replaced the fuel pump twice before I gave it to my granddaughter earlier this year.
I got my Lightning last November and I have not had any trouble with it, all my troubles were with SunRun.
I love this truck and wouldn’t let it go for anything.
I guess it’s just the luck of the draw.

Where the blank is my blinketty starred sign pound sign! Jack and wrench at?

What kind of experiences have you had with your dealer?
1. Making appt thru Ford app resulted in no response from neither Hennessy or Five Star Ford.

2. Cedric at Five Star told me my leak was my fault for parking the truck under trees and would likely cost me $350. It was covered.

3. When making appt, asked if they could rotate the tires and take care of the customer satisfaction bulletins, and gave Cedric the numbers.

When I got there, Cedric said he'd have to look them up. And added the bulletins are only for if I have a problem and not to worry about them, even though they apply to my truck.

3. While there for the leak, asked if they could rotate the tires and take care of the customer satisfaction bulletins. They neither rotated the tires nor did anything about the customer service bulletins.

Truck continues to leak.

4. Going back for 2d leak fixing appt, asked again about the customer bulletins, and added a 3d. Sat there for three hours before Cedric told me the leak guy was in another state.

And that he did nothing about the bulletins bc no one had time to check out the truck.

5. When making new appt for leak, was told:

The bulletins would require it's own appt

Can we make on the same day, I leave my truck and get a loaner, as allowed by at least one of the bulletins? Nope to all. And the haven't had a loaner available for months.

Can the come to house to take care of the leak (since it's a subcontractor who does his work in their parking lot using their hose and/or have two of the service bulletins work done at my house as allowed by the bulletins. Nope.

Can they tow the truck as allowed by the bulletins. Nope.

Etc, etc, etc...in short, I don't consider doing the least possible and making me feel like a nag customer service or a very good experience.

Find a new dealership and forget this one.
No customer service , report to Ford.
