Phone as a key if my nightstand is only 30’ away from my driveway?

I really love phone as a key. But can I actually use it?? My nightstand, beside my bed, where my phone is plugged in all night long, is less than 30’ from my driveway. Bluetooth has no trouble passing through walls. Can anyone just walk up and hit the door handle sensor and open my door???

Doh! lol. Of course I thought of that after posting. So it doesn’t. Makes me wonder how it works though. When I open the FordPass app from my bedroom, it says Bluetooth is connected to the truck. What’s different between sitting on my nightstand and being in my pocket?

As you have determined, just having the key or phone 30' away will not allow someone to open the door. Unlocking and opening the door requires much closer proximity. However, having your key or phone 30' away will repeatedly "awaken" the truck, causing welcome lights to turn on and draining the battery.

I recommend you close the FordPass app if you use PaaK so that the truck won't be activated over and over throughout the night.
