Ford certainly has their statistics in hand to manage their own build expectations from the public, and since they are a 'sales' organization they are going to try to maximize not only the numbers of vehicles produced to sale, but also the profit per vehicle, which we might all assume is the Platinum version. I think if the PRO model was the ONLY model they released, they'd still most certainly have a BIG WINNER on their hands, and it would still possibly become the overwhelming BEST SELLING VEHICLE in the market.
But, the business is not just numbers, at least not just the numbers of vehicles, but the profit per vehicle. Some customers will always default to the Highest model possible and the most 'add ons' available, it's just their thing. I could buy TWO of these Pro trucks for that price, though.
On the converse, if Ford wants to saturate the market and actually quickly become that prestigious holder of the most sought-after vehicle in the market, they might want to build what the masses want - an affordable truck, like the Pro model that they advertise the exceptional pricing for. Henry Ford did just that.
