Ford is reportedly considering offering matte paint options for future vehicles. It's definitely popular with certain vehicles and brands but if Ford offered on the Lightning would you get it?
If you would, which color would you get? If not, share your thoughts why not. I've added a poll as well to see what everyone thinks.
In recent years, matte paint has become increasingly popular on vehicles, to the point where several manufacturers offer it straight from the factory. However, these types of paint options are still somewhat few and far between, and are typically reserved for luxury or higher-end performance vehicles at a relatively high cost in many cases. Regardless, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that Ford is now considering offering matte paint options for its future vehicles, too.
Ford’s cross-town rival General Motors recently offered a matte paint option dubbed Dark Emerald Frost for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, but ultimately discontinued that hue back in January after it was deemed a limited, promotional color that was intended from the start to serve as a one-year-only offering for the high-performance luxury sedans. However, that option also cost buyers a rather significant $3,925, highlighting why matte paint is often reserved for pricier models.
Regardless, Ford has offered a handful of unique paint options recently, including a variety of two-tone color combinations on the 2023 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition, all of which are designed to invoke a retro look and pay homage to a scheme that endured for decades on the popular pickup. For the 2022 model year, the Ford Ranger Splash Package is also available in a variety of bright hues, with the Splash Limited Edition offering more exclusive, one-off colors as well.
