Had truck for a couple of months now and am still trying to figure this out.

Wireless app projection says "allows you to project apps"

1. Is this thru BT or wifi, or both?

"The active app is mirrored on the sync screen." To me this means my looks just like my phone but on the trucks screen, like Android's Smartview, formerly known as "screen mirroring."

2. Can it "mirror" or just allow limited functionality of a few apps?

If it can mirror, how do I set it up?

Is there any advantage over Apple or Android Auto?

While I'm at it, what is "mobile apps?"

Apps for truck or phone apps the truck (or androind can interface with on the sync screen?

Why can't I turn it on?

My vehicle is connected to my home's wifi, phone connected to vehicle wifi, but hot spot not subscribed or on..

Wireless app projection is your phone connecting to the Sync system. In older versions of Sync you had to plug your phone into a USB port in order to project your apps onto the screen. With the new system that is in the Lightning, it's "wireless," just meaning that you no longer have to plug your phone in for it to project. As soon you as get in the vehicle it will connect and you can use your apps form the display screen.

It is only some of your apps that will show up. Facebook and Instagram and stuff like that won't show up, but Overdrive/Libby, YouTube, Spotify, etc will. Essentially, anything that can be safely used while driving shows up. There is no setting it up though, as far as I know, beyond pairing your phone with your profile in your Sync system. Once your phone is paired, you can select the Android Auto from the Home screen, it will take you to the mirrored screen. As of right now, that screen is split in half, with the top being the maps, and the bottom being the other app that you are using.

Of course, this is all Android Auto that I'm referencing because I have an Android phone. I can't speak to what Apple Car Play is like.
