I'm not going to bother watching that and only say I have had trucks all my life from day 1, I love my lightning and will never look back. Are we in the early days YES!!! towing is the downside and not that i have towed anything with mine as I have a lariat f350 diesel and not needed to take a 150 truck period. I can say I am reasonably sure the towing would need to be under 150-180km with my trailer or I will need to charge but that is yet to be tested for me. What is awesome is the truck for me is great as a truck without the towing need. I have run several 500km trips and had great experiences doing it, I can load up my gear in the truck and get great range for my needs. My 2 cents Only!

EV are not for everyone just yet, ( charger locations , range, price.)
Wife drives Ioniq 5, and myself the Lightning , and with Solar system on the roof that produces enough juice for the house and the EVs, I can say one thing
We will never go back to ICE

All good points, however were it not for early adopters making the early purchases the wait would be much longer or the EV revolution might never happen. Say ‘thank you’ to those that helped lead the way to the EVoultion.

tesla was notorious for quality issues in the earlier days, yet people still LOVE their teslas with a basic instinct like obsession.
I went out to hollywood studios this morning, could have taken the ICE truck or the Tesla. As I was driving the Tesla, it’s was subconscious, but it just felt better. For its potential short comings, the ev is simply a better product. The driving experience is better, and I own a porche 911. And yes the product isn’t mature yet and we are overpaying for what it might cost in 5-10 years. And yes we are on the front of the asymptotic slope of the technology curve for car batteries and the integrated technology, but you will always have that excuse.
also keep in mind that you will probably be ready to trade it in in 7 years, at which point you will have a chance to catch up on that technology.

Long ago, when I was young, we had conversations about why we love our cars or machines. Today it is more popular to have a conversation about why we hate something, unfortunately this is not restricted to cars and machines. I am more interested in learning about my Truck and how to best use it. There will be growing pains and it is a pretty steep learning curve but the smile on my face while driving will tell you this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have no problem experiencing a few inconveniences to be a part of the transition.

I have been driving an EV as my primary vehicle for over 11 years now. I feel like Northern California where I live is the epicenter of EV adoption and I can tell you there are a ton of them on the road. Here at least the infrastructure is 1000 times better than it was when I started driving an EV. We currently own four vehicles three of them are electric. Two of them are not Teslas and I think they are the more compelling cars except for the software (looking at you Ford). Towing range is the only issue with the Lightning. It does everything else amazingly. I could not be happier with my purchase.
Infrastructure will improve with more and more companies bringing electric vehicles to market. I was just at a stoplight in my model three and there was a Y and EQS in line behind me.
It’s a great time to buy and EV. There have never been more choices and more infrastructure.

Oh and I will add I fee like I am driving a model T Ford in my 2017 f350 now that i exclusively drive with 1 pedal, That is the one thing I have discovered I lov the most.... well ok maybe its the $1000 in fuel in 3 weeks of ownership saved.....

Very true, it may take a long time for someone to switch from gas to electric but once it happens rarely (in my experience) do people end up switching back.

No need to read this, it is just musings of an old man when seeing articles such as this one.

The author either does not think the "tech is there yet", or, more likely he/she is writing in support of a competing industry. The headline of a local paper this week proclaimed "Why Biden's Electric Car Plans Will Never Work". Ah, the political spin. Yes.

Well, I have been driving electric Hot Rods for better than 25 years. I built them before I could buy them from an OEM. They have worked, and worked very well for a long time for me.

It is now 2022. Tesla has sold almost a million cars so far just this year (and there is a lot of year left to sell more). There are waiting lists for every electric vehicle currently being produced. It is the fastest growing segment of the automotive industry. Anyone still saying that there is not a demand for electric vehicles or that the "tech is just not here yet" is ignorant... or has an agenda. Period.

That said, I am kind of glad there are still as many ignorants as there are on the subject. Otherwise, the wait lists for these vehicles would be even longer...

Tell me about it. The best of all was how many DAYS it takes to fully charge at home because of course that's our only option, right? RIGHT?

yea I see this so much and I feel someone could afford a econo car note for the price in gas they are spending driving 40-70 miles a day. My neighbor that got his Rivian right before mine made that comment. He traded his truck in, got a subaru to commute in that would become his oldest kid's car but then the Rivian came sooner and even at the Rivian price tag, it was cheaper than the gas bill he was paying.

at our current fuel prices converted to US gal I have saved $1000 in fuel in 3 weeks ownership of my truck, not hard when our Ontario fuel price is currently $7.64 a gallon Canadian funds or $1.68 Canadian a litre, lovin it and load up sheet goods and various loads in the bed with no real effect on range, works like any other truck for my needs.
