My F150 Lightning Platinum has a build date of 8/4 and I have had no update since then but understand it is on a 'chip hold'. My question is - while I am waiting, why can I not get the charger and have it installed so that it is ready when my truck arrives? My dealer told me we have to submit the paperwork after the truck arrives and then should get the charger about a week after that. Will then have another few weeks to get the electrician lined up as I can't do it in advance without knowing a date I will receive it.
Why can't I get the charger before my truck arrives?

Because that's not the way Ford and SunRun are doing it.
One logical explanation: you haven't bought the truck yet. Ford, the dealer, and SunRun don't know if you might change your mind and not accept the order.

Got it. I was not thinking about SunRun part of the equation. SunRun won't install in Iowa though so I have to find someone to do it, which is why I was wondering.

The dealer received my truck last week. Getting scratches fixed this week. Had a local electrician pre-wire. Now waiting for the Ford Charge Station Pro and the Ford Intelligent Backup Power Station.
I got my truck over two weeks ago and am still waiting for SunRun to ship the charger. At first, the truck was not marked as SOLD so SunRun had not started paperwork. I have been on the phone with them probably five times now and still do not have it resolved, though my dealer says it is supposed to ship within three business days. So, if any of you are waiting on a charger, call SunRun and make sure the dealer has marked the vehicle as SOLD.
