My Lightning just went into production this week and coincidentally, I received an email from Ford stating that I should get a head start on the electric charging station installation. I followed the links for Sun Run, and since one of the main features I liked the most was the potential to have a whole house generator, I selected this option in their "build". It stated that I needed to have their home integration system included in this build. This is what popped up next:

$150$0due today
$109,199* due after installation
Your costs
Refundable design feeWaived
Charger installation$1,500
Home Integration System$107,699
Electrical or home upgrades-
Total due after installation*$109,199
Here's what you need to know

*Price may increase due to your install preferences, required home or electrical upgrades, or other requirements. Any changes in prices will be communicated prior to installation.

Has anyone else had any issues or have any success with either Sun Run or another outfit to get a charging station installed? It certainly appears that Sun Run wants to include solar panels as well, for which I am not interested. Any help would be appreciated!

I dont really see an issue. You can get the charger installed only for $1500. But if you select that you are interested in the home integration system, then you get the above pricing.. You still can get the charger only, but they will discuss if you want the H.I.S. If yes, 109K, if no, 1500 for the charger only....

Did this quote how many PV panels were to be in the build?

Did they interview you in person and review your electric bill to determine peak and total consumption?

If they did, then either you use a LOT of power, or they screwed up the calculations, or the self service web form has some glitches in it, that's enough of an error to discourage any potential sale!

I spoke a SunRun rep last night, we burn about 8000 KWH a year, from that he recommended a 22 panel PV plus HIS at around $28,000, of course the price is subject to in person appraisal of our roofs usable space and the unknown costs of an upgrade of or ancient 100A load center and additional costs to run 90+ feet of underground conduit from the house to the garage, where they would mount the FCSP.

This has got to be a monumental typo but I’ve seen other people reporting the same thing. Someone at sunrun is going on a long vacation
So here is an article stating the home backup thing is like 4k. So yes, someone at SunRun may be getting fired.

Yeah the hardware for the HIS has been priced in multiple ford docs released on this page and the Facebook group. I don’t remember the exact cost because I’m not buying it but it was close to 4k. Which means a huge screw up during roll out which makes ford look bad or they want to charge 103k for labor

Typos happen. My estimate was consistent with what I've heard from others:

I’ve seen several quotes on other Lightning groups in the $100k range. Completely insane so I have to assume there is a bug in the software. It isn’t a typo on a single quote though. It’s in the quoting system somewhere. Surprised I haven’t seen Teslarati jumping all over this.

Since all of those that I've seen are quoting the exact same number, I think it was a single error and those "journalists" latch onto such things with gusto. You'd think with all the real car news they would have better things to do.

Is there anyone who is not in a Sun Run service area that has been successful in purchasing the Home integration system yet? I called Sun Run over the weekend and an associate on their FORD Lightning Team walked me through creating an account on AEE Express website but the account activation had to be reviewed which said it could take 5 days. Last night I checked on my account and it was still not activated but I seen where there was now a “Ford Customers Register Here” option under the new Customer log in space. So I created an account this way, proceeded to add the HIS to my cart with an expected delivery date of 05/10/22. After placing the order and receiving an email confirmation, my order was updated saying the components are ”back ordered” and my new expected ship date is SEP-02. I’ve reached out to Sun Run customer service to confirm but sounds like there could be significant delays in receiving these components.

just checked my ordered status for the Home integration system again this morning, it’s now saying NOV. 1st ship date. I also had received an email from SunRun customer support that said my Sep 2 ship date was accurate but then it gets delayed even more. I just can’t imagine that there’s been that many of these Home Integration systems ordered so far. I know supply chain and chip shortage is severe but surely they prepared for initial shipments of these products to not immediately be delayed. Has anyone on here actually had theirs installed from SunRun or at least completed an order for one and paid for it?

Hey @ChasingCoral if you end up getting the home integrations system are you going to keep your existing home chargers? Or get new ones?
We’re considering moving and downsizing so I have no plan to sink $10K into a HIS only to leave it behind.

We might install the Charger Station Pro at reduced output but our initial plan is to stick with the charger we already have.
