I was watching a tfl truck video and some gear shifted around in the frunk at highway speeds and hit the “kidnap” button and it opened at speed. Not sure how much it opened, but any amount is a scary scenario. So what I’m thinking is like a toggle switch guard. Installs with 2 way tape so no hole drilling. I’m a buyer if someone makes it.

It's a good idea, I'll see about drafting and printing something. Probably a domed cage with a few holes big enough to poke a finger through?

If I had the truck in front of me I could measure the button bezel with a pair of calipers and design/print one. Unfortunately I reserved a couple hours too late and apparently the wrong state.

Got a couple other ideas instead of the cage, the main test is that the friction fit holds solid. Then form the base a verity of options will be viable. Going to print it Monday and see if it fits. If it works, or a later iteration works I'll put it up on thingiverse.

First prototype snapped right into place. Can't get a finger threw, but it pulls off without much effort so wouldn't prevent access to the button. Stayed in place after quick test drive over a rough road.

Anyone wanting to print it themselves can find it at: F-150 Lightning Kidnapped Button Cover by Vithar

So the frunk can open with the truck is in drive/reverse? Doesn’t sound right.
Sure it does, to an extent.

Pay attention to the frunk when it opens. There are two distinct actions, unlatch and open. The first unlatches the frunk, the second slowly opens the frunk. We know if the truck is stopped and in Park, pressing the button unlatches, then activates the opener. My guess is that pressing that button while moving causes the frunk to unlatch and the alerts on the dash to come on indicating the frunk is ajar. That may be a non-dismissable warning. However, I doubt the frunk will lift open. When the truck then stops, the frunk may automatically open or may require a second push of the button when stopped before it opens.

If someone would like to climb into the frunk and try this while moving, we'll have the answer*. ;)

For those without their own printer, you can get parts made by fast prototyping companies on the internet that will 3d print any design you upload to them in a large variety of materials. Most also offer lots of other fabrication such as laser or water jet cutting, CNC machining, turning, etc. You supply the files (download and unzip the .stl file from the thingiverse link), specify the material, pay, and they mail you the parts in a few days or weeks depending if you want to pay for fast service or wait longer for cheap and slow.

Have had good experience with www.xometry.com

That seams expensive. I know they have employees to pay and packaging for shipping and such, but for general reference. Its just under 2hrs to print on my Prusia and uses about $0.45 worth of plastic.

printed your 3D frunk button cover and it worked great. snapped on and easy enough to pop off if needed, but secure enough to not just fall off. Perfect build.
