After several delays my Lightning went into “production” on October 31, 2022. It’s been stuck in that status ever since then and I have receive zero updates. I’m sure there are some issues with supply chain, among other things, but it shouldn’t take this long. Has anybody else experienced the same thing? I can only imagine how long it’ll take to ship to the East Coast as well. Overall the user experience is almost nonexistent throughout this process. That’s a real missed opportunity for Ford to build anticipation and excitement for its clients. The dealership has been of absolutely no use or value as well.

It's probably on a chip hold. Look around on the Forum and you'll find there are lots of folks in the same situation.

Good luck getting your truck moving soon.

I've experienced some of the delay you are talking about. I submitted my order on 9/15/2022 for my Lariat ER. I received no further updates till I received an email from FMC on 10/18/22 that my production date was changed from 10/31/22 to 11/1/2022. My truck was built on 11/30/22 and is being shipped approx 12/15-21/22. I'm in small town in W. Texas and haven't seen any Ford Lightnings here in the "wild". A friend of mine saw a Ford Black at a Target parking lot - very dirty besides the original look.

They best recommendation I would say is to use the "Ford Tracking Status" website link. You will be able to get a more "real-time" status as opposed to getting emails from the Ford website.

Curious -- what model trim/truck do you end up ordering.??

Thanks for this detail. That is very interesting that you’ll be getting your truck in a matter of weeks. I too ordered the Lariat ER and check the status on the tracking site each day. I didn’t order anything extravagant in terms of add-ons with exception of the spray in bed. Based on similar posts I’ve read, most others had a wait time from production to notice of delivery of about three to four weeks which seems to sync with your timing. Hopefully I’ll see some movement soon. Thanks again for the reply.

I’m in the same boat. I called Ford and they confirmed that my truck is on a chip hold. It’s mind boggling to me given they already removed the smart hitch and the advanced security pack.

I wasn’t aware of the smart hitch and advanced security pack (what is this?) being removed. I checked my window sticker yesterday and confirmed the heated steering wheel and weight scale have been removed with a ridiculously low token credit to the price. I am sure I will have to pay 6x to a dealership some day to have these items reinstalled. Any more cuts to this already overprice truck would make me second-guess the purchase. The GMC Sierra Ultimate Denali is looking better and better each day.

FWIW my dealer told me yesterday that he has one customer whose truck was built in mid-August and has been waiting ever since for the factory spray-in bed liner. (I didn’t ask if this was a Lightning or another Ford model.). When I ordered my Lightning (9/12/22), my dealer said that he’s seen a number of trucks held up “a long time” after the build waiting for bed liners. He advised that I order it without and he has made arrangements for it to be done by a local shop when my truck is delivered. Same price and quality, I’ve been told.

I know none of this helps you now—if it is even a bed liner that your truck is waiting for. I wish you luck. Lots of us who have ordered Lariat ERs are waiting on pins and needles to see if we can take delivery by the end of 2022, so that we get the current $7500 tax credit before the Inflation Reduction Act kicks in and caps incentives at a price point below our purchase!

Same exact situation for me. And no updates on the website. Any updates?

Anyone knows the answers to the "Advanced Security Pack" -- Is this the main truck alarm system?? Can this be re-installed after Ford receives the chip or module??
The "Advanced" security pack has two extra sensors ON TOP of the normal security/alarm system. One for interior motion detection and another that I think was for tilt/lift (but I could be wrong about that).
