Has anyone heard anything about wave 4 ordering? I called into fomoco today to see if they had an updated list, and the guy said he was thinking wave 3 was going to extend thru the entire month. That kind of doesn’t jive with how they have done things in the past, but was wondering if anyone else had any news or heard anything about when wave 4 will kick.

Just got an email from Ford saying ordering is opening soon and that they anticipate all reservations to be given the opportunity to order by summer 2023.
Also indicated that you can roll your order opportunity over as well…

“Each wave of ordering will be open for a limited time. If you’re invited to place an order and decide not to this time around, we’ll keep your invitation open so you can order later. Pricing and availability are subject to change.”

anyone else get this?

I got that. Short on specifics, big on pressure to act quick.
I did see something somewhere where someone from ford told someone they’ll be getting a chance to place their order October 24. I’m betting thats when they reopen the ordering banks. Called Ford marketing today, there was no reported timeframe for the reopening.
not to complain, but this process totally sucks. It’s draining, it’s opaque, and it does spoil the enthusiasm I have to actually own and drive this truck rather.

I have faith that when Tesla starts building trucks they will start with order #001 and work their way up to mine. In order, at least by desired trim. Ford did nothing like that. Like many others here, I am a day one reservation and as far as I can tell it’s all dealer nepotism and bullshit.

I'm probably going to order and wait for XLT availability, if allowed. Even if in the interim the XLT cost rises $5K in the interim I'll still be $10K ahead of being forced into a Lariat. Given that some things on the Lariat I don't care for and the fact that I've been waiting for 17 months already...

Just got this email from my dealer:

I just received this:

Updates

  • In a previous communication to dealers, we indicated plans to launch 23MY F-150 Lightning Wave 4 on Thursday, October 13th.
  • Due to unforeseen technical issues, we are delaying the launch of Wave 4 until early next week (week of October 17th).
  • Customers will be notified via email with an invite to order.
  • Dealers are able to confirm the list of reservation holders that will be invited next week, via the ROVP site now.

And I learned from my dealer’s sales manager that CA and OR get WAY more allotments then even WA. I’m not sure how they distributed the numbers to each state, or even each dealer (has to do with volume sales and anticipated sales) but it’s crazy. To me, it should be “place in line”, (regardless of dealer or where you live) determines the order received. You place your order first, you get the first truck. Second, you get the second truck (trim level considered, of course).

They are trying to be strategic about where they deploy this revolutionary new vehicle. Admittedly, it’s not just the 2022 F150, and the supply network was really constrained, so literal first in first out Wouldn’t be the best way to go. My beef is with the number of dealer prioritizations vs The constrained amount of release allocations. They screwed that up royally if they were trying to thread the needle of fairness to consumer while keeping the dealers happy.
one thing I saw in the video posted about wave 4 being Oct 17 was something I had heard from the lightning road show, but hadn’t actually seen or heard since, and that was that the allocations are going to be prioritized to the dealers that convert orders. In that, your dealers prior performance with getting their reservations to place orders will impact whether or not you get your invitation to order. it also looked like the waves are going to be small until next summer, so figuring out a way to see if your dealer has been successful in converting reservations might also be another variable in trying to push up the line.

Welllll…look at this timing…just got a call from
my dealer “You will be getting information from Ford. It’s time to order.” So the 17th must be the date.

Got a heads ups today I am going to be in the next wave. Great news, so I thought I would go check one out. Got to the dealer, let me sit in the driver's seat and play around with it for awhile. Asked if I could test drive it and he had to ask his manager. Wouldn't let me test drive, but he could take me on a test ride, what a joke. I declined. But he did tell me that their dealership had converted 40 over to orders this year, but they have yet to deliver the first one to a retail customer. The only 2 they had were a platinum and lariat demo units. So I may get order but it still could awhile before delivery. The waiting game is just enough to drive a guy insane.

My dealer gave me a heads up last Friday that I would be getting invited, but no email from Ford yet. I'm refreshing my inbox every 10 minutes and holding out hope that I can score an XLT before they get scooped up.
