Hi All

Got my Lariat ER Monday and can’t get my arms down. Such a nice ride.

I’m missing some features from the Mach-E though.

Walk away locking of the doors. Is there a way to activate that anywhere? I used that all the time in the MME which means that I sometimes forget to lock the truck when i leave it 🤦🏼‍♂️

Phone as key - guess that’s coming down the road?

I love walk-away-lock. Got truck today and can't find it either. It can maybe come as an update, I hope?
I really hope so.

PaaK was cancelled because people could hack it and steal your truck too easily.
I heard that as well, but it’s been working great on the Mustang. Wonder what the difference is.

Anyway. Let’s hope they bring both features back soon :)

The difference is that your mustang came with it, so I guess they think taking it away would be a PR nightmare. Hopefully they clear it up soon. My Mustang came with only one key, but the Lightning with two, so it's not that big a deal for me, I hope.

Mach Es come with 2 keys now.

I actually like that it doesn't do the walk away lock for the truck. My suspension is that because it is a work truck, it would get very irritating for it to constantly honk and lock when you step away. I know with the Mach E (and no phone) it'll honk and lock very quickly. It irritates me in the Mach E sometimes because I'll be loading stuff or taking stuff out and if I happen to fully close the one door I was dealing with....

And with how many people on here apparently don't like the beep from the frunk of the truck, wouldn't you also be irritated with it honking every time you happen to work away if you are doing anything with the truck?

Ford has done focus groups for this truck and I wouldn't be surprised if they had a good amount of feedback about that feature in particular.

That all being said if they just put it as a setting in the car; cool. I haven't bothered to look because I actually like that it doesn't do that. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman is always in my head, I make sure things are locked. I actually became more use to hitting that impression of a lock on the Mach E because I hate the walk away honk.

Edit: Ford will deliver F-150 Lightning units without 'Phone-as-a-Key' feature
PaaK was delayed on the Lightning because of problems getting it to work right. Ford has had lots of issues with PaaK implementation on the Mach E and I suspect they don’t want to deal with the same issues on the F-150.

There is no evidence or information from Ford that the delay has anything to do with potential (but very small) security risks. Security risks with fobs is higher than with PaaK.

same. it will unlock as you approach, no reason it shouldnt lock as you walk away.

Really need that feature. Also would love to add auto garage door opening based on X feet, like i have in my tesla. Anyone know of a good way to pass feedback along to ford? I got my truck monday as well and have feed back, good and a few small issues, like the shifter sometimes puts itself in park when you "stop" the car via the start stop button, other times it does not.

The truck does not unlock when you approach. It wakes up but requires action on the phone, fob or door handle to actually unlock.

Don't have one yet. Do the power mirrors fold up on locking the car? Our volvos do (it can be turned off if desired) and it a great visual confirmation that it is locked.
I changed the settings to have the power mirrors fold up, just for this reason and that it protects the mirrors from being ripped off by accident.

It sometimes wakes up. This has been an irritation of mine. There have been times in the afternoon I'm doing stuff in the garage/yard and the truck will keep "waking up" if I'm near by with the key. Then early mornings when I'm going to work, the vehicle is outside or in the garage and it is dark (I'd like the lights to come on then) it won't until I touch the door handle. I also don't like how close the key has to be for it to actually unlock when I touch the handle.

Another Ford engineer confirmed to me a few weeks ago they were working on it. Hoping it is soon.

I hope this becomes an option to shut off because I certainly don’t want my truck locking and unlocking everyone I walk by it or away from it. This is a truck and I use it differently and I walk back and forth to it and near it for many reasons. Sometimes technology becomes a nuisance when it does too much.
