I imagine this is a resonance of the truck+ drive unit controls that was not accounted for due to the mass/stiffness combination of your specific tool box on the frame+ drive unit battery etc at that speed. Maybe software update could fix long term or a damper addition in a later model year. I imagine the truck dips when accelerating with that weight and some combination of traction control, motor control, and the additional weight causes some of the controls algorithms to freak out as you lose traction in the front and more weight in the back.

Sorry post was sent while I was typing. I tried my toolbox in my sons new Lightning and exact same results. Contacted Ford dealer and they contacted Ford engineering. Engineer said if same result then nothing wrong with truck. There is definitely an issue with these trucks.

The fact you reproduced this with another truck, new, at the same speed indicates this is an engineering flaw and just a fundamental resonance/response from the truck due to controls or purely structural resonance with that additional mass. For fun have you tried keeping the toolbox in but removing the tools to lower mass and see if it vibrates as much? Also maybe you could counterweight in the frunk? Don’t recommend it /overweighting the truck /drive safely. Likely will not be fixed unless they do it over software with drive unit controls but sounds like they likely won’t go that far.

I have not tried removing the tools. That would be a lot of work, but might be worth
it. It performs the same towing as well. No matter what result I come up with Ford will ignore it anyhow. They keep focusing on traditional stuff like wheels, axles and bearings, all of which have been changed. I still like the truck just don't like the lack of educated service. I attached a pic to help visualize what the tool box looks like.

Any update on this? I have a brand new truck with 569 miles and have a bad vibration, shaking at all speeds. Balance tires, still there.

I'm having the same issue as the initial poster. They started with wheel balance, and the shakes still exists. It happens to occur in a frequency that gives me car sickness. I have it at all ranges/miles per hour, but between 50 and 70 is unbearable

Although I do carry tools with me, I remove them often, and I am getting the vibration with or without tools in the bed. Also, I can feel it primarily in my floorboards and in my seat. I haven't had a passenger in the truck to see if they feel the same thing but I took a video of my pant leg shaking. I get nauseous after about 10 minutes. I've never had car sickness before. Not sure if I can post a YouTube link here, but I may post it on YouTube and see if I can attach. (The video will be of the vibration, not me getting car sick;)

My 2023 f150 lightning has been in and out of 2 dealerships all summer. My truck is a 2023 lightning XLT long range with HD tow and cooling packages. I use this truck as a service truck for heavy equipment repair. It has a 900 lb sliding tray tool box in the box of the truck. At speeds of 70 to 80 km per hr it creates a vibration. It will also make the same vibration towing a trailer without the tool box. Dealerships changed all the axle shafts, rear wheel bearings, swapped tires and rims and still no success. I installed a new set of blizzak tires on new steel rims sept 27/24 and it still vibrates. My son just received a new flash lightning and we placed the toolbox in his truck for a test. His truck creates the exact same vib at the exact same speed. I feel it is in the suspension or motor synchronization. Ford just cannot get a handle on this. It will only vibrate at moderate to heavy acceleration. The fact that two new trucks do the same thing makes me think Ford has a design issue here. It's a great truck but they need to get this sorted out. I cannot be expected to continually take my truck to the dealership and get it back with the same issue still active. Do any of you have the same spec truck doing this as well. I'm just going to wait a while and see if Ford announces a fix. It's costing too much money to keep going to the dealers.
Same exact scenario for me, but it does not matter if I'm in tow or not. They started by balancing the wheels, I'm feeling it primarily in my floorboards and in the seat with minor shaking and steering wheel. It's occurring at all mile per hour ranges for me but with 50 to 70 mph being the worst

I have given up on getting it resolved. The dealers are only interested in selling and service of ice vehicles. I can understand people are worried about thier jobs. There is very little maintenance to these trucks. If Ford was all electric service departments would be considerably smaller and dealers make a lot of money from the service department. Unless of coarse they make ev vehicles that are more prone to breakdowns.

We've been experiencing the exact same issue with our 2023 Lightning. It's been into the dealership far too many times, and as it's our work truck, the downtime is costing us money. They've done everything mentioned above — including replacing the tires — but the problem persists.

The vibration started around 8,000 km in the summer of 2024. It's consistently felt in the steering wheel and seat between 60–80 km/h, and passengers can feel it as well. It's present whether the truck is loaded or unloaded, though it's noticeably worse under load. Like others have shared, the vibration is so pronounced it's causing motion sickness for my wife and kids.

Unfortunately, our dealership has now essentially given up — they even cancelled our last service appointment and have since stopped responding to emails and service requests. We're extremely frustrated and disappointed by the lack of effort to address this ongoing issue or to acknowledge what seems to be a common concern across multiple vehicles.

Ford Canada needs to take this seriously.

Did Ford ever get you some better answers or solutions? We've hadf the same issue since summer 2024 and are getting no where.

My experience with Ford Canada is that they are a lot of talk and not much anything else. I've dealt with four different dealers with my truck, and 3 of the 4 seem to be irritated that I own a Lightning. In speaking with Ford Canada about unresolvable warranty issues, they fall back to the original selling dealer, and say you have to take it up with them if a problem can't be fixed. Unfortunately, in Canada we don't have much in the way of consumer protection laws compared to the US. We don't have any lemon laws, so you are basically stuck with just suing the dealer if the problem can be fixed.

I was very concerned this could be the outcome of others. This truck can't even be solid with the vibration the way it is. Talk about a depreciating liability versus asset
Well, I learned my lesson. This was the first Ford I ever bought, and it will be the last. I've never had any dealer network and car company treat me so poorly as Ford has. They clearly don't care about their customers. The dealer in Halifax has been quite pleasant to deal with (part of a large dealership group - Steele Auto Group - largest in Atlantic Canada, and have dealerships in Texas also), and they will actually go that extra mile, but I don't think it's reasonable to have to drive 150km for service/repairs/maintenance. It's very disappointing because I do like the truck.

Have you resolved your vibration issue? Next week my dealer is going to replace the front axles. I have started a case with Ford tech support. They intend to talk with the Dealer once my truck is at the service appt. Any advice appreciated.
