Anyone have a little hum/vibration/resonance around 60mph range? It’s odd as truck is so smooth otherwise and it’s not bad, but you do notice it. Almost seems like a crosswind or aerodynamic issue, but I didn’t notice it until a few days ago and I’ve had truck for 2 weeks and have put about 600 miles on it. It doesn’t seem to do it all the time either. I’m going to drive it more tomorrow to see if I can figure it the conditions it does it.

I saw on another forum when I google searched that a few people complained of a similar issue around the 45-50mph range. No diagnosis though.

Just wondering what it might be?

I'm not a mechanic or an expert. However with three decades of racing experience, here is my thoughts.

Some possible reasons no particular order:
  • * Wheel balance
  • Wheel nuts untldef torque
  • Wheel bearings
  • Aerodynamic misnomer
  • * Road surface
The two with * are most probable. To test the last you should find a completely different road surface you can safely travel at 60+\-5 for comparison.

Those all sound very logical. Thank you very much, Phil. I’ll check lug nut torque this morning and then head out and drive around to see if that fixes it or if it one of the other possibilities. Thanks again.

I would verify that your active air dam shutters are opening and closing properly. Just a guess, but I had the same issue with a Suburban once. They called it harmonic resonance. The wind going through the boxed frame produced a sound similar to what you described. Could be the wind reacting with the shutters if they are not opening and closing properly,.

Just my uneducated guess.

That is a great suggestion. Not sure how to check if they are operating properly at speed, but I will see if that’s it.
I did drive it about 45 miles this morning mostly on highway and I’m thinking it could be tire resonance at speed as it does vary a bit with different road surfaces and speeds. I have the Kumho AT tires I believe. Typically very quiet but maybe with a little wear now with 650 miles they might resonant slightly at certain speeds and road surfaces.

That said, that active shutter sounds like a plausible explanation as it is some sort of resonance with the truck or tires. Thanks all!!

So, still trying to decide between wind noise resonance at the front of the truck or some tire resonance from the Kumho Dynapro tires at certain speeds.

Do you guys have any wind noise starting around 50ish mph up to 70ish. It's almost like a hum/resonance. It's not huge, but the tone is noticeable in the background relative to how quiet the truck is otherwise.
