USPS SELECTS FORD TO ELECTRIFY NATION’S LARGEST FEDERAL FLEET, PURCHASES 9,250 E-TRANSIT VANS

DEARBORN, Mich., March 1, 2023 – In a news release dated Feb. 28, 2023, the United States Postal Service announced further details in its plans to electrify its nationwide fleet with Next-Generation Delivery Vehicles, including the purchase of 9,250 Ford E-Transit™ vans.

Ford Motor Company issued the following statement in response to the news.

“Ford is proud to support the United States Postal Service in delivering a more sustainable future for America by electrifying their fleet with over 9,200 E-Transit vans through the end of 2024. Built by our dedicated UAW workforce at the Kansas City Assembly Plant, vehicles will be operated by the largest electric fleet in the country serving communities on every street corner. Together with USPS, we are committing to cleaner air and a better planet,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO.

EV mail trucks makes too much sense. They never go fast, don't need tons of range and can charge up for cheap overnight.

The Grumman LLV that is currently used is based on an S-10 from the '80s. It's the only delivery vehicle in my neighborhood I can hear from in the house. I can't imagine what the UPSP's fuel bill looks like. It's about time.
