Well I went crazy and fully upgraded the audio in my truck. Active 3 way Morel carbon pro speakers up front. Custom A pillars from mti out of texas. Zen A2B, mosconi dsp, arc audio amps, twin jl audio shallow mount 12s in a custom box under the seat, also MTI. This was designed to be a sound quality over spl system. It sounds incredible and gets plenty loud. Here are few quick pics.

Mosconi? I like your style. I was going to tell you guys what I was going to get installed in my upcoming Lightning but I didn't want to get laughed at so I'm glad you posted this. I'm going to blow about 30-35K just on audio, alarm system, 360 camera etc. I always personally install high-end audio equipment in my autos since the early 90s. Because I'm not privy to EVs and their electrical setup, I've hired someone who specializes in EV audio installs. I too am an SQ fanatic. I'm pretty particular when it comes to my car audio. That amp setup looks nice and clean. Those A-pillar pods are really nice. What trim model is your Lightning?

Lariat ER. Stock B&O just flat out sucked! I had to do something. I am an AV snob, this system doesn’t leave me wanting for more. It rocks. Look into MTI Acoustics out of Texas or Sounds Good Stereo in Tennessee. They do a ton of systems for F series trucks. That’s were I started my research. Then I went with some equipment I had experience with. Furthermore, EV are actually awesome to do an upgraded audio system with. None of the issues with standard 12 v system. No alternator noise, or worrying about power reserves. The DC to DC converters in EV are strong and efficient. Plenty of power transfer. Just make sure you power on your car before listening, otherwise that little 12 volt battery will die 😳😂

Thanks for the tip.

What are you using for your main audio source? I am going to use my ASTELL & KERN SP2000 High Resolution audio player.
downloaded music files. Either from ripped cds or high quality Apple Music downloads and streaming. Just have to make sure to use the wired Apple care play connection, otherwise it’s all downgraded through the Bluetooth connection. I’d like to be able to plug in a 1tb thumb drive or something similar, so I can have my entire music library at hand. Just not sure if that’s possible.

HD radio sounds pretty good, sirusxm is just ok, very compressed with little dynamic range. Good for quick trips and general listening

Wireless CarPlay uses WiFi, and I think the audio is sent LPCM; it should be the same as wired.
Looked around a bit - seems like the wireless bandwidth might still not support full-fledged lossless audio. I'll have to hunt around for better documentation. That said, lossless audio in a (moving) vehicle seems like a waste of effort. Wireless carplay appears to use AAC, but it will for sure have better bandwidth than a bluetooth connection would.

Both of these companies really focus on the F150. There is Black Friday pricing at SGS this weekend and MTI has had discounts listed for a while. I know MTI will customize a package and both end up about 20% off - so a pretty good time to buy if you are looking. I don't think either are sponsors here, although they do other truck forums.

Satellite radio signal is terrible. Some of the songs sound like mp3s compressed down to 64-128 kbps. I used to have a subscription to serus radio but with high-end audio equipment, I couldn't listen to music formatted that way. Talk radio would be ok, I guess.

In my current F-150, I load 256 and 512 MB thumb drives with usually whole cds ripped to flac or mp3 @320kbps formats. Anything less than mp3 @ 320kbps just sounds like crap on my current system.

The sad part is the horrible software in the Lightning. Our lives have become complex with devices and my short 400 mile Thanksgiving trip was frustrating.

First is the navigation. In 4 years of Tesla ownership I can count on one hand the number of times it didn't understand and map an address. Trying to use the Ford Navigation, I tried about 10 times to get it to understand an address (did this 3 different times) and it never once found an address. This is just the beginning.

From there - I also want to upgrade the stereo, so I've ripped 60 or so CD's to FLAC and have those plugged in to one of the front USB plugs on an SSD drive. I have Car Play turned off because I want my phone wifi to be connected to a wifi OBDII reader. So my phone is connected via bluetooth. If I used voice command to try and change music on the USB drive, it would switch to my phone bluetooth music every time. Most of the same music is on the phone in mp3's. No matter what I did giving a voice command, it would not change to a different antist or album and stay on the USB music. You can't select any USB music with the truck moving with is absurd.

I can do some things to make life easier, but I shouldn't have to compromise to do so. I don't truly need the OBDII reader, but using CarPlay and Apple Maps gives me no information about charging, Plus you can't resize the Apple map on the screen to zoom out and look ahead.

To say the least - I'll have to make compromises and add complication just to use this crap they call an interface and software.

I bought this one last night:

Yay black friday "deals." Should be here sometime in January - watch for an installation thread with lots of pics!

Well - I scare myself thinking about it today, but I also pulled the trigger and ordered a system yesterday too. I went with the MTI in College Station. Focal Flax front all doors, fronts are components, using a JL Audio VXi amp to drive those and a dedicated amp driving a JL Audio TW3 behind the seat sub. I didn't want to give up my under seat storage. I think it will still have enough punch for what I want on a daily basis. I also want SQ over loudness.

Goddamn! Thank God I don't give a shit about how my radio sounds. If I can basically understand what song is playing, I'm good.

I'm in the middle. I'd want to do it but I also don't want to lose the under seat storage (which I think this is where this goes). I figured I'll run this system until I blow it out then figure something out.

Both of the systems that we just noted have behind the seat boxes. MTI has had one a while, I don't recall seeing one from SGS until last week, but it is there now. So underseat storage is saved. The jack will have to be moved.
