Howdy all!

Random question that no one may have the answer to. When I made my reservation last year I selected the XLT trim. When I called 800 number a couple weeks back to change dealer she said I should expect email on the 24th. Am I locked into the XLT or will I have the option of ordering a Lariat without having to delay until the mid-September wave?

I think you'll have no worries ordering any available model/trim you wish. You extended your order invite, not your specific model/trim, since they didn't know 'which' trim you were going to possibly order. An initial reservation was simply a place-holder tool for Ford, it did not lock a customer into that being the only thing they could order, nor should it now.

The initial reservations were simply to provide Ford feedback on what numbers they would be seeing in the future from customer orders, but yes, we all can change our mind between May 19 2021 and today, and even sometime well into the future.

Unless they are trying for the Pro model which may not be available wave 2 on August 24th. I called Ford last week as I was in wave 2 earlier this year and I chose to extended my reservation for a Pro January 20th. I called Ford last Friday after I didn’t get an invite on August 11th and the Ford rep said my assigned dealer “amended” my extended reservation it to a XLT model between now and then. The Ford rep said anyone that selected to extend their reservation for an XLT will be able to order on August 24th but no guarantees a Pro model will still be available when wave 2 opens up. Ford said it was too late to switch back to Pro and called my dealer who also said they couldn’t do anything about it.

I certainly can't tell you why a dealer would have 'amended' your order invitation, but IF a Pro is still available, you should be able to order it, regardless...

I was told I cannot change trim level after I just submitted my order. Got the invite October 17 and nothing but lariat and platinum to order. I waited and checked daily and all opened up for me yesterday so I quickly ordered pro lol. Then realized all the stuff I was missing with XLT. They say I am stuck now. Any ideas?

Can you explain the process and details on how you edited your order? I placed my order a few weeks ago, it is currently scheduled to start production on 12/5. I messaged my dealer yesterday to request to change to power running board (I missed that when ordering). He said he sent in the request but was not sure if he'd hear back in a day or so or until 12/5.

thats what im told. still seems like bs but ford says its up to dealer and they say i cant. its a order that wont see production for months.. why cant i change it
