I have been waiting for the new look update (4.1.2) since it was announced. It anyone else’s Lighting showing the update, but it has not installed and does not give the option to install? It has been here for 3 days like this. I have scheduled updates for midnight every night, but it has not installed!

My recent update failure problem was solved through the suggestions of several other forum members. Resolution: My 12 volt frunk battery was not sufficiently charged. I put a trickle charger on it until the charger indicated that the battery was at its peak level. When the automatic update ran the next time, the update was installed successfully.

Really glad we were able to help you out, Lou! Craziest thing for me, is my first update came through the next day after trickle charging. Until Ford gets this fixed, I think I'm just going to proactively do it 1-2 times per month.

Wow, I will have to give that a try. Crazy that would be the case, you would think that having the truck plugged in would get it charged while charging the main battery pack.

I was also waiting for the update. I tried manually checking for it but it didn't find any new updates.

A few days later I had to go to a job site early in the morning. No notifications from the truck that there was an update ready.

After my job walk (about 30 minutes) I got back into my truck to instantly notice that the center console looked different. It updated while I was walking the job.

I do have a dash cam installed and that sends me notifications on the FordPass App that there's an electrical drain, maybe driving it charged it up? I don't know I'm not car savvy enough to know if that's how it works.

I charged the 12v batter yesterday, very surprised to see that it was only at 65% charged. No update yet, hoping it comes down soon....

Hoping that happens to me. The 12v battery is fully charged and the truck is in my work parking lot...we will see after the work day.

I can confirm the puny 12v battery is my problem. I hooked up a charger the other day, it said the battery was at 85%, okay. Charged to 100% then drove truck 30 minutes home, parked, plugged in, temps @ - 5degC, FAILED TO UPDATE.

Next test, attached 2nd battery (fully charged "marine" battery, normal car battery size) via booster cables and left in frunk overnight, plugged in, @-5degC, SUCCESS!

The OEM 12v batt just doesn't have enough capacity, even at relatively warm winter temps.

Hopefully they can come up with a fix to keep power during an update. Maybe Ford can add an onboard maintainer seperate of the main power circuit or a better battery.

I have fully charged the 12v battery and it did not resolve my issue. The update eventually failed. I called Ford and they said it would retry, but could not tell me when. They recommended going to the dealer to have them install it but I have not been able to get there yet.
Did you have a charger on when the update failed?

To be clear, they are talking about putting a trickle charger on the 12v battery through the frunk, not just driving truck/ plugging truck in. Did you try this?

Yes, I had the main battery on the charger and the trickle charger on the 12v. I did it again last night with no luck.
Well darn, that's worked for quite a few folks on here.
