Automotive parking light Wheel Automotive side marker light Tire Land vehicle

Hi there! My name is Tim Healey and I am the managing editor at the Truth About Cars, one of VerticalScope’s editorial sites. I am meeting with Ford at a Chicago-area dealership this afternoon to talk Lightning and maybe drive one (again -- I had a bit of wheel time a month ago). I can’t make promises, but if you have questions, ask here and I can try to get them answered. Please ask by noon Central time.

Why is the Ford Charge Station Pro not delivered with the vehicle? Why not charge the customer separately because some states have incentives to take advantage of but you need a line item charge for that.

Will Ford commit to providing improved, exact fit, replacement batteries (and other parts) in the future for these first generation Lightning’s (at a reasonable cost)? This would be a move for sustainability. Also, can they comment of how old batteries will be handled?

Why is Ford only using SunRun for their charger installation? Looks like customers are having bad experiences left and right.
From Ford: "Ford worked closely with Sunrun to develop and provide a seamless installation solution for both the charger and the Home Integration System, while also offering customers the leading home solar installation experts for their charging hardware. Supporting the design and development of the Home Integration System, Sunrun installation experts are trained to know the F-150 Lightning and the charging hardware to help ensure an efficient and high-quality installation for each home so customers can rest assured their system will work seamlessly and reliably. In select markets, customers interested in leveraging more renewable energy will have the opportunity to install solar energy on their home through Sunrun, enabling them to power their household and charge their F-150 Lightning with the power of the sun."

From Ford: "We are confident in our collaboration with Sunrun and the service they provide. As more and more F-150 Lightnings get delivered to customers and more installations occur across the U.S., we are confident the installation processes will become even more seamless for our customers."

From Ford: "Most customers want to get their homes or workplaces set up for charging and potentially the Intelligent Backup Power Home Integration System before the truck arrives, which means they would need the Ford Charge Station Pro available ahead of time. Sunrun and our dealer network will continue to work with customers to meet their installation and delivery needs. If customers choose to use their own electrician or install the Ford Charge Station Pro themselves, Ford will ensure a seamless delivery process."

From Ford, answering the second part of the question: "
We are proud to offer the 80A Ford Charge Station Pro as included complementary with the purchase of an F-150 extended range battery, meaning customers won't pay extra as part of their truck package. Customers who have a standard range battery can still purchase the Ford Charge Station Pro (or the 48A Ford Connected Charge Station) with the click of a button at chargers.ford.com, where it is a separate purchase and hence could be used for incentives if offered by municipalities or states."
