I ordered a Pro in first wave with Max Tow and Tow Technology. As much as I want the 360 cameras and brake controller, I don’t necessarily want to miss the $7500 tax rebate to get those things if it slows down my order due to “late availability”. Anybody have any insight about this? I’m thinking I’ll call the Lightning customer line and ask the question tomorrow.

I called Ford today and got transferred to the Lightning team. I asked about the late availability on the tow technology package, the person I spoke to (who was very nice) couldn’t give me any more info than we are speculating here. No hints if the package was a constraint or just the late 22 software update, no answer on if the non tow tech package had a harness for an aftermarket brake controller. They also had no idea about the $7500 tax rebate and that it diminishes after they sell the 200,000th electric car.

I would like the tow technology package, but I also want my first wave order ASAP. If tow tech is going to push my truck to the back of the line behind all the Lariat and Platinum I’ll drop it from my order.

the Tow Technology package, if not updated when you receive the vehicle, will be updated when Ford is ready, but that is not going to keep anyone from towing - the hitch is there, the brake controller will already be installed - the technology is simply the screens and overview 'info' while you are trying to hook up to your trailer - no biggie. I also doubt the EV rebate will remain with the same 'cutoff' since the BBB Plan bill certainly includes things that change that dramatically - I think it'll be in a different form, though, and maybe do away with a set 'number' of vehicles and make it more 'date' based - such as in three years, etc.

BBB is dead. Thank you Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin for having the stomach to hold their ground. We’ll see what comes up next time, hopefully it’s something that can actually pass.

Not to start a political fight here (I’m here for the trucks) but BBB would save us all an additional $5k in addition to doing a bunch of other helpful things not related to our new EV trucks. I’ll take the $7.5k if available but $12.5k would be better :)

We can agree to disagree and leave it at that.
