The Ford F-150 Lightning is not selling as well as Ford expected?

About 1,000 Ford F-150 Lightnings are available for sale on AutoTrader, all available for immediately delivery. That's quite a lot of these electric pickups to be sitting around. I also noticed that used prices have been on a steady decline, just look at stats on BaT: F-150 Lightning Electric

My Lightning was delivered today. I test drove it this evening. I like it, but I'm not going to buy it. It's not the truck I wanted when I made my reservation. Price of it doubled, and the interest rates make it a luxury I can't swallow. My local deal already has FOUR for sale on the lot.
Aren’t you the same dude who also bought $7k below MSRP? And the price doubled from when you made your reservation?
New and used car inventory is still tight. Lightning prices coming down to Earth is a given but I wouldn't bet on a bargain. Below MSRP is a pipe dream (unless used), perhaps at MSRP. We still have a chip shortage and production limitations. Unless the supply eases, prices will sustain. Check out Ford CEO's earning call remarks. Tesla Cybertruck's customer base has little overlap with Ford Lightning - pricewise and utilitywise. What's going to be Cybertruck's entry point? I bet 120K and top trim around 200K. There are people, hundreds of thousands of people, who are going to buy it without asking its price. And the wait? Hmmmm I am guessing most will wait 1 year, minimum.

They are sitting on lots be a use of the $15k over sticker they are asking. My local dealer also was $10k over MSRP for Bronco's about 4 months ago. And did not have one on the lot. But today they have over 15 units. They still holding out for over MSRP to. I hope they loose their gamble. Because they have destroyed their reputation.

I cancelled my order when Ford did their first major price increase and then lost the tax credit. It was already at the top of my price range and that just broke it. Add in 7% interest instead of 2% and it’s worse.

The range was also a big deal. I drive a lot and the range for a road trip wasn’t realistic. I’ll be interested what the 2nd Gen offers.

Also most of the dealers around me have Lariats or Platinums in stock. Not a lot but 2-4.
The environment has changed since reservations were made. I am sure there have been cancelations with the price and interest rate increase for the '23 models. The range doesn't work for everyone, but we knew that when we made our reservations.
With that said, Autotrader lists 46 Lightnings within a 50-mile radius of us here in southeast Pennsylvania. Only four are listed below $80K. Two of them are in transit, one is 5K over MSRP, while the other is 12K over. One of the others is listed with a $25K discount from a $115K MSRP. The images show a SR Lariat. Not sure how accurate their listed MSRP could be for any Lightning, let alone a SR Lariat. Do your homework and make a decision that works best for your lifestyle.
Picked up a ‘new mannequin’ 2022 Lariat ER today for $2k under MSRP here in Central Texas. Was >$10K less OTD than my MSRP ‘23 Lariat ER that’s currently on stop ship.

Plus MSRP under 80 to get you the tax credit?
Plus MSRP under 80 to get you the tax credit?
$79,644 + TT&L

Not sure if i'll be eligible for the tax credit (depending on how well work goes this year), but either way, it was an amazing deal.

especially if GM and Tesla go in production with 400+ mile range - though the GM's high price may slow some of the fire.
Dodge
Gm
Tesla
Rivian
Ford

All are expensive, all have problems, some aren't even in production yet.

You can guess at what the future holds but I would guess the prices hold for another year for the most sought after models.

Agree, except your timeline is off. Below MSRP by April and fire sale by end of year -- especially if GM and Tesla go in production with 400+ mile range - though the GM's high price may slow some of the fire.
Reminds me of the Mustang and Camaro. Anybody else remember the long months between the Mustang rollout and the high priced Camaro?
I love mine as well! It’s working great for me and has already saved me good $$$$ - I charge at 0.09c per kWh!
How are you getting .09 per kWh?
How are you getting .09 per kWh?
$0.09/kwh is probably what they meant.

My off peak rate is $0.07 Cad/kwh, I double that for fees and taxes for my calculations.

before tax, but add gst and pst (12%) to that…

I live in a Canadian province (Manitoba) where power is very cheap and we are not charged delivery, etc etc - we don’t even have on peak and off peak hours, although our local company is studying to help drive EV adoption - in their survey, they were proposing a rate between 0.03 and 0.05 if you charge overnight…hope this will go forward.

LongMcArthur tried to sell me a 2022 Lariat in December, had. 3k mi someone traded back in they were asking 5k over original sticker. Previous owner had painted the inside of the light bar with spray painot. Dealer offered to reduce price $1000. I why don’t they just replace the light bar? They responded it going to take $4k to do that & dealer not willing. I bowed out. Found out later light bar in the $700 range. Dealer Nonsense & Greed. Ive got pics of funky painted light bar.

Did you look at the leasing terms? I wonder if it's better to lease than buy.
