About 1,000 Ford F-150 Lightnings are available for sale on AutoTrader, all available for immediately delivery. That's quite a lot of these electric pickups to be sitting around. I also noticed that used prices have been on a steady decline, just look at stats on BaT: F-150 Lightning Electric

I think most of what he said is true. I completely disagree with dealers not marking up above MSRP for order holders. The three reasons he mentioned are the reasons I am going to walk away from my lightning order.
1.The lightning’s cold weather and towing range
(I live in Canada and have a snowmobile trailer and camper and can’t make it to most the places I normally go without multiple long charging stops )
2. The cost increases by Ford, which was over $10000 cdn for me. Let’s not forget removal of features such as: mobile charger (no refund for this), heated steering wheel, security features, bed camera and bed scales)
3. Interest rates, the finance rate has almost doubled for me from 4.99% to 7.99%. Also my mortgage rate went up which cut in to my available funds.
So as he suggested it is not a practical work / tow truck and a Phev would be much better, for me. But people that don’t use there trucks for truck stuff in temperate areas should do well with a lightning.

here’s the real reason…the Lightning is an expensive truck, not everyone can afford them, that’s just reality.

you’ve made a smart decision but keep an eye on that mortgage rate, it’s probably gonna reach 8-9% on variable before it starts to go down in mid 2024

I just want to say that I love mine. This is the most awesome truck I have driven. I traded my Raptor in for this truck. Yes, they are expensive. I live in Canada and we have extremely cold temperatures. So far it handles the cold weather well. I plug it in overnight and plan for long trips with dc charging and have had no issues so far. If you want to tow heavy on long excursions this may not be the truck for you. I think people got caught up in the hype and then realized it’s simply too expensive for them.

I agree with all the posts. Everyone has a different use. I mostly use my truck close to home for farming. It has pulled empty wagons to the field, transferred fuel to combine and tractors, pulled combine header to and from field and picked up feed etc. It also has pulled our boat to our cabin in north 400km and pulled a trailer with a small tractor on it. It is the nicest vehicle I’ve ever driven and is excellent for most of my day to day driving. My truck is a standard range lariat.I would have preferred a base model with extended range but I was able to get this one before the price increases. Standard range will be fine for me when they get the charge network more reliable here in Ontario Canada with true fast chargers and fix the ones that aren’t working. I also have Tesla model S and Y in the family. Traveling with the Tesla’s is much easier and with the amount of tesla chargers and ease of charging vs app method with other vehicles give Tesla a huge advantage if traveling. Most of the charging is done at home, but it would be nice if every gas bar would be required to have a dc fast charger to spread them out everywhere. Again it is a really nice truck to drive and with weight balanced between wheels make it really good in the snow.

I don’t have a problem with it being expensive. The dramatic price increases are off putting.
Originally, a Pro was going to be $28,000 with rebates. When I finally got to order, the price was $77,000 due to price increases along with losing the rebates and Ford only allowing me to order the Lariat.

I was still willing to buy, but the SR battery just won’t cut it in the winter.

It has been a massive “bait and switch” by Ford.

Still….it seems like a great truck. I may pick up a Lariat in a couple years for $50k on the used market.

Probably a lot to truth to some of that, Ford is ruining this program roll out by allowing dealers to add excessive ADM's. This is the main reason I'm considering walking away from my Lariat ER with a $10k ADM impose by the dealer. There is another one the lot now that that has been sitting there for almost a month with the same ADM and it looks like it's the same story.

A lot of what is listed on autotrader are sold customer orders (for some reason even these get listed, it makes zero sense). I think there are a few Lariats available in my area but they are massively overpriced, and considered "used", so no federal rebate. Im sure its different from one area to the next but around here (Denver) youre not gonna find a deal... yet.
I most certainly overpaid for my MSRP Lariat SR, but I like the truck and my fuel, thus far, has been entirely free. (I charge at the office and my employer is 100% ok with it). I think they just want to get as many people in the office as they can get these days. :D

I am no longer a dealer, and my password to check lot inventory stopped working sometime ago. Obviously I have a lot of friends still in the business, to include an ex-wife who is still the Finance Manager at a dealership.

As documented in prior posts, I canceled my order. I have zero doubt that I will be able to pick up an ER @ <MSRP by August. SR's should be well under MSRP by then, and should be in fire-sale territory by '24.

Last Friday one of my buddies who is keeping an eye on the trucks for me at the dealership called with another ER for MSRP. While I was on the phone with him I asked directly about the widely spreading rumor of over a thousand units on Ford lots nationwide. In typical car salesman fashion, he lowered his voice as if telling me a deep dark secret, but admitted "yes."

Anybody looking for an SR, buy one; they are currently available, and readily so at MSRP. But seriously, don't order one. ER's are, and will be in shorter supply, so ordering those makes more sense.

I love mine as well! It’s working great for me and has already saved me good $$$$ - I charge at 0.09c per kWh!

ADM is negotiable. If you really want it, talk them down to what’s comfortable for you. If that number is zero, to ask for it. If they don’t, walk away.

Unfortunately, Ford has little control to completely stop ADM given the franchise structure. They're doing what they can, though, in threatening to withhold product for those who continue to gouge. Just have to avoid those stealerships.

Agree, except your timeline is off. Below MSRP by April and fire sale by end of year -- especially if GM and Tesla go in production with 400+ mile range - though the GM's high price may slow some of the fire.

Yes, I am being generous with that timeline LOL.

I say August by the latest because that is when Ford is projecting to have ramped to full production capacity, or at least close to it.

That said, a lot can happen. For instance, today Ford may have taken a hit with a Chinese supplier they were counting on for batteries. Second hand information (so add salt) but something pulled from the ocean floor off the Carolinas had a name on it that could really damage Ford's supply chain.

So we will watch and see.
