Very interesting. This should have been adopted yesterday. It won't support the HIS however, so redesign would have to happen by Ford.

Kind of late for this.... should have allowed others to use free long ago. It is clearly a better design but horse is out of barn.Very interesting. This should have been adopted yesterday. It won't support the HIS however, so redesign would have to happen by Ford.

I think NEVI specifically calls for CCS, so not sure why they would think this would work.Tesla's bass awkward way to try to get money from the federal government for chargers. To get the money, the chargers have to be capable of charging all cars.
Classic BS. The "North American Charging Standard (NACS)" is only a standard within Tesla. They had the chance to play nicely with others years ago and decided to build their own sandbox. Now they are making a thinly-veiled attempt to access Federal dollars. Nope.Very interesting. This should have been adopted yesterday. It won't support the HIS however, so redesign would have to happen by Ford.

Agree with you 100% and had just made this same comment a little bit ago before I read your comment here. After driving Tesla's for 4 years, by first experience with an EA charger and CCS was like WTF. There is no way this standard survives in the current form of that plug for mass EV adoption in 20 years. It's not too late and CCS is straight garbage. Can you imagine using CCS in 2030 or 2035? No way.
We are in the early days of EVs, the tech is going to iterate quickly, manufacturers will need to adopt or die.
If not the Tesla standard fine (but dumb not to) they will have to update CCS to something, watch.
Reps to Coral; that is an outstanding comparison.Tesla connector is the Betamax of EV charging. Tech is arguably better but the company blew the chance to be the most commonly used.
Yep. The NEVI guidance already limits applicable systems to CCS:I think NEVI specifically calls for CCS, so not sure why they would think this would work.
Funny part is, I don't even care. Elon can have all of my money; just get the damn thing opened already!Tesla is in a pickle. Tesla owners don't want to allow other EVs (I'm a prior owner and that's how I felt). Tesla will add the minimum number of CCS adapters to get the government money. I'm sure the rates will be outrageous too! But man, I miss that charging infrastructure!![]()
