We shut down sales of reservations that were clearly against the rules. We know Ford is providing language dealers can choose to include if they wish that says no sales for a year. We are already seeing threads where folks are looking to make a quick buck off their luck of getting an order in. Do we want those sales here? If there’sa clear consensus we can ban sales. Please carry your vote.

I voted to ban flipper posts. There are a better and more secure places for people to sell their vehicles and these posts distract from the useful content on the forum. Is there a system for people to opt-in or opt-out if flipper posts are confined to a certain subforum?

I voted "Not Yet", suggested rules for the "Want to Sell" forum department include conditions of membership & participation, example, profile established for at least 30 days and 30 or more general interaction posts to ensure some level of trust between sellers and the forum membership, including new members who sign up solely in reaction to advertising of product (including trucks) for sale.

I voted not yet, but almost want to vote No, just to keep the forum focused on the truck and those that own it vs a for sale board with a million replies about the seller asking too much or not knowing what they talk about.

If ads/sales are allowed I would hope they are only allowed in a single forum and perhaps require sellers to be established on the forum by at least 10 to 20 posts. It takes a lot of admin and policing.

Not sure on flipping but saw a post asking people with reservations how much $$$ a dealership could offer them to not pick up their order so they could sell it to another customer and I'd be interested in seeing if that actually happens.

I voted for the ‘Yes’ option because it was worded with a caveat of ‘legitimacy’ which I think could be defined in a way that covers your concern (ie legit = active forum membership, etc, etc). I don’t think asking price should be a determinant of legitimacy though because the free market is what it is…the market will find a way whether it’s on this forum or not, but the advantage of having it here is the power of information that goes to our forum membership. For example, we can chat among buyers and sellers to understand the ‘why’ behind buy/sell decisions and pricing levels.

Agreed, I’d consider this a form of indirect flipping and will be good information for the forum to have access to.

I voted 'not yet,' though my way of thinking is more like "Not immediately." I don't think it should wait until the '22's are delivered - who knows when that will happen? :p Resale posts should probably wait until there is a stream of vehicles in the pipeline, which is still a ways off.

That said, this is a community of people who have a lot of interest in this particular vehicle. If one comes available, isn't this the group of people who should see it and be able too take action on a possible purchase? If it's a flipper looking to just make a buck, someone can call them out. If it's someone who realizes that they got more (or less) than they wanted, let them sell here, to people who have an established interest.

I voted "Yes".

I agree with everyone that I don't want to see them scattered everywhere. There should be rules and restrictions. For instance, my yes is for them to have to purchase the premium membership on here and have an extra level of verification. I agree there are better places to sell this kind of thing and that's because those places have these verification methods. I'm not for scammers. It should be in its own forum post and quite frankly any discussion about reselling should be only allowed in that forum. Otherwise, no.

That being said, if we ban them; I really won't care. But "Legal and Legit" should be emphasized. I agree that I want this forum to be a place to come to discuss and share thoughts and experiences about the Lightning. Not another marketplace.

OK, so I’m owning up to my plan to flip my 2022 Bronco Base (7-speed Black) with Big Bend wheel upgrade. Picking it up next week. Reason: unexpectedly notified in March that I could order 2022 Lightning (wasn’t emailed in January when Ford said 2022 invitations would be sent so I ordered a Bronco so I’d have a car to drive). Using any flip profit to help me pay for my 2022 Lightning this Summer after 10% to my church. Anyone interested in the Bronco I’ll give you much better deal than online prices.

Maybe it'd be worth creating a "classifieds" section on the forum to keep everything in place. Otherwise things would get out of hand.

At some point we need a marketplace for both classifieds as well as after market parts. Am sure there will be super creative accessory builders here who would do something for the group. So in anticipation we can provide everyone a fair space in that unique area. For potential flippers; there is no place like an enthusiast forum to make the best sale away from the eBAY and auction fees.

We have a Vendor node already, but another node needs to be built for Classified subsections.

To each their own I guess. I personally don’t like it for vehicle sales. Accessories make some sense to me in the appropriate section but I see this forum mainly as a place to come for information and to discuss the truck.
Flippers would dilute that in my opinion. But I also wouldn’t source an $80k+ purchase through an online forum that doesn’t do any vetting. The chance of being scammed just seems too high for me. Seems like there are safer places to connect buyers and sellers in the digital space. And some of the fees associated with those places are meant to provide consumer protections I’m guessing this forum can’t.

I also say "Not Yet"

I also voted not "Not Yet", and like the idea of a "Want to Sell" section... If FORD allows reservation selling, or people want to sell the truck, let people have it. I am a firm believer in letting the market dictate certain things and this is one of them. If people want to pay 10k over msrp or 5k for someone's reservation, they will. If they dont want to pay, they won't and those "flippers" will have to figure something else out... Just like the dealers trying to charge more than agreed, or more than the MSRP, changing dealers may eventually get those dealers to change practices for the better.
