Whether it's an off-road monster like a Raptor or a street version like the original Lightning, should Ford make a performance version of the Lightning? I think it'd be a great way for Ford to get ahead of the competition and make electric trucks more appealing to people. Ford hasn't been shy on putting the Raptor name on different vehicles like the Bronco Raptor and the Ranger Raptor overseas.

I would be shocked to hear they aren't already working on street and off-road performance trucks.

Isn’t the average Lightning already a “performance” version compared to any ICE pickup on the market? I’d be interested in a regular cab shortbed model, but I don’t think it would sell enough units to justify the cost.

while I agree with some others they should focus on this one being great, I also have to say yes, because performance always leads to better innovation and future products. I am sure they are working on a Raptor version already I would think. But I think they are milking the common components as much as possible for the time being to keep cost down.

They already seem to be working on higher performance. Note that the Police version comes with an available sub-4.0 second 0-60 acceleration.

It won't happen for a short 3-year Lightning run.

I am betting that Ford will offer a performance trim in the all new 2025 Lightning.
Why do you say the Lightning will only be a 3-year run?

2022, 2023 and 2024. An all new Lightning is set to arrive in 2025.

Known as the TE1 it will have a dedicated BEV platform. The current Lightning is based off the existing F150 ICE platform.

Are you sure the TE1 is an F-150 replacement? I thought it was a new line addition of a smaller BEV pickup.
