I have a lariat but I always use marathon seat covers, they are great to deal with.

I got rough country seat covers for my xlt (protect the seats from 3 kids). Very happy with them. Great for the price and it fits snug without any movement.

It is made of neoprene, so my guess is yes. It is breathable but not enough to cool down that area the way vented seats should.

The marathon covers are canvas and yes they inhibit the seat cooling, if you were to perforate them to make it worth they would be less water resistant/ more prone to debris getting between seat cover and leather.
