I got the email to order the truck. I assumed I was done (needing only to wait for its arrival).

After some research, it looks like I need to go to my dealer to complete the order.

Is that correct?

Is there anything else about the process I should be wary of?

I’m most concerned with a last minute price hike from Ford Motor OR my local dealer.

Thanks for any help with the process!

Your dealer must accept the order now.

Unfortunately, you needed to get an MSRP guarantee before you ordered, to have any leverage. If you talk to them now and they try to add $$ to your price, you can call Ford to try to change dealers, but that may not be possible since you already ordered.

How was I supposed to know that? I’ve been using the Ford website alone up to this point.

I appreciate your help!

I’ll go to the dealer tomorrow and see what they say. If they won’t lock it in, I’ll probably just wait a few years until dealers have them in stock. I was already hit hard when the XLT I wanted was unavailable for order and I had to upgrade to the Lariat for $20K more.

If the dealer is a crook, definitely contact Ford and try to cancel your order from there first if you cannot move it. Last thing you want is for the dealer to profit by getting your truck for resale!

For me, when I reviewed the "Pricing Summary" prior to ordering, it listed a $10k dealer markup (even after the dealership told me they wouldn't do that). I looked around and found another dealer prior to ordering, made sure they would sell at MSRP (it's their standard practice and they are known for it/advertise it) and then I changed dealerships to the new dealer. I then submitted the order. (I guess there is still a chance they go back on their word, but I doubt it for me). If there is a markup listed in your order's pricing summary, you would know right up front that they intend on charging more. If there isn't, I guess you are not absolutely guaranteed...

Did your online order show any markup? When you go to the dealer, get a signed buyers order showing no markup.
