I understand from the dealership that the remote start on the Ford app uses a cellular connection (and not Bluetooth).
We live in the bonnies, with no cell signa,l and I have been wondering how to start my F150 Lighting from my home in those cold winter mornings.
I connected the truck to our home WiFi hoping that I might be able to connect the Ford app on my cell phone (also on the same WiFi) to remotely start the truck that way. It did not work and in fact, everytime I would be in my truck it would it would kick out (disconnect) the cell phone from the WiFi (!).
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has an idea how to remotely start the F150 when you have no cell signal.
Thanks,
D

Hey @davidbrent1966 welcome to the forum! That's odd it should work with the wifi from my understanding.

There might be something here that might help you out with the remote start to get it working. Do you currently have your Lightning?

I feel your pain, same here. I have no cell coverage at home and cannot remote start nor am I getting any OTA updates. I set a 6:30 departure time for Saturdays (going to town day) but work from home during the week.

The app works when away from home (in cell coverage), but no FordPass app does not use wi-fi when no cell coverage is available..

Is Bluetooth even active if the truck is not powered on
I'm pretty sure that PaaK uses Bluetooth. I turned off 'Welcome Lighting' because whenever I got too close to the truck with my phone inside the house, the lights would come on.

Just got off the phone with the Ford OTA Team, and apparently there's a known issue with the 2023 F150 Lightning and Bronco where remote start does not work reliably. Estimated time for a fix is mid-February. For me, I seem to be able to remote start my vehicle if it's connected to wifi, but the remote start when the vehicle is on cellular does not work.

I just ran a test and my BT does not stay active when the truck is off - that must be updated when PAAK is added?
Yes, PAAK utilized a bluetooth connection between phone/truck. Should allow you to remote start when connected via bluetooth at that point.

Yes. I have had it for a few weeks, if that is what you were asking.
The remote start works wherever I have a cell signal but not at my place.

Are you close enough to connect to the truck via Bluetooth? It indicates whether connected or not on the FordPass home screen.
I am standing 3 feet away; so close enough I would hope. I've never seen a confirmation from the FordPass app that I am connected or not to the truck, via bluetooth or some other ways. It probably does it because it will randomly gives me an update about the charging status (not always right, though).

Yes. This is what I end up doing also but my schedule varies so every night I need to set-up the departure time for the next day. Dumb...

according to the owners manual (page 74) remote start using phone-as-a-key does use bluetooth.
