I live in a cold climate and was looking forward to having my truck warm and ready to go each morning without having to think about it. You can do this by setting up departure times and setting the climate control to warm. This function is great when it works, the problem is that it rarely works. I had the truck in to the dealer for its free 5000 mile service and asked them to check on this about a month ago and it of corse when they checked it at the dealership it worked fine. The said the truck did not show any codes and was up to date. The truck did pre condtion the next couple of day after I got it back from the dealer but now is back to maybe working 1 out 10 times. I have cleared the departure time and re added them to no avail, not sure what to do next, I was hoping a software update would fix this but it continues and I have got two updates since the dealer visit although they repeats of ones the truck already had, it is on 3.5.4 for what is worth. I had it "work" the other moring but a the wrong time, I have it set to 7 am and Ford pass notified me that it was ready at 5 AM, I checked my charger app and sure enough it did pull some power shortly beofore 5 am to warm the cab and battery, too bad it ws ston cold at 7 am and wasted the power to warm it at the wrong time. I checked the settings and it was set 7AM still. I am hoping @Ford Motor Company can help me out with this. How many other members are having this issue? I know I can remote "start" the truck to warm it and the battery but it would be nice to have the departure time work as it should.

What charger are you using? Is it possible that the truck isn’t sensing the charger so it doesn’t perform the warm up. Do you have another charger to test?

Our trucks are computers now. Hard reset? Pull the 12v…

So I am going to take this step at time to see what fixes it so I know for next time. I checked the time zone in my Ford app today and it set correctly so no change there. I did the soft reset by deleinh my charging location and re adding when plugged in this evening. Let see if work tommorrw morning. Nest step a hard reset by pulling the 12 V terminal off. I am using an Autel 40 wall charger and also have the Ford Mobile charge that came with the truck. I had issue with both chargers and scheduled charging, the Autel had a bug that woudl cause cherger freeze up and not start a charge until I power cycled the charger, they fixed that issue with a firmware update and it has not returned. The Ford Mobile Charge had a couple scheduled charges fail to start that scheduled via Sync in the truck, so I thing that one was the Truck. If the hard reset does not work, I will try the Mobile Charger agin to see if that fixes it.

So, I had the same issue last week. The first day I setup departure times Monday thru Friday, it worked the first day but didn’t the rest of the week. GUESS WHAT my dumb arse had the spare key in the dash the whole time. Once I removed it I tested the departure time and IT WORKED! I felt so dumb, but check to make sure your spare key isn’t in the car OR if it’s in a garage or in close proximity of one of your key fobs try moving it away from your truck and see if it works. No idea why it wouldn’t work with the keys nearby

Well my spare key is stored safely away, but you did get me wondering if it needs to be locked in order preconditon. My truck is locked attached garage so I don't always lock it. I'll lock it tonight to see if that helps.

Well it worked this morning after the soft reset and leaving it locked, here is to hoping it is resolved. @cwstnsko, I did not know about profiles, where does one set this up or check on it, I have a XLT with the 12 inch system if that makes difference.

Mine has been doing this to some extent also. I did find that "refreshing" status in the app seems to wake the truck up to precondition. I wonder if this is somewhat related to other issues folks have had with 12V battery level regarding updates. I could see truck going into a standby mode to save battery and forgetting to wake up. Allowing 12V to charge while plugged in would solve that issue, but not sure if it would change this one.

Well it was 5 degrees this morning and it did not precondtion, truck was locked. I guess I will hard reset it and see if that works, I suspect it will for a short time and then go back to mostly not working, There has to be software bug that is causing this. I did everything the same last night as I did the night before where it worked. Frustrating!

Normally I just remote start. while plugged in, about 10 minutes prior to leaving. I tried preconditioning for the first time this morning. I set up a schedule a few days ago for tuesday, thursday and friday @ 6:30am. I knew I wasnt going to need tuesday so I left the toggle off on the app. Last night I activated the toggle and it worked this morning. It seemed to help my range, I usually arrive to work at 1.8-1.9 mile/kwh when its 30ish F. Today it was one of the slightly colder days @25F and I arrived with 2.1mile/kwh. The truck started drawing power @ 5:41am and used 5.86 kwh until I unplugged at 6:29am. So thats about 53 cents of juice. I guess if I was to need to maximize my range it would make sense to precondition but for my 50 miles round trip commute just a remote start to warm the cabin is probably good enough.

Make sure you have your charging time window wide enough to cover all of the time required for departure. It also might not precondition if the battery is within range already. There's a lot of crosstalk going on in the computers and I've yet to get enough data myself.

I remote start when the pre-condition fails to work which is quite often unfortunately.

I have it set to charge anytime when plugged in.

I charge my 22 Lariat ER using the Ford Charging station in windows with the last charge close to departure time in AM- Also have it set to turn on 15 minutes before departure. Eighty mile roundtrip commute. Truck is warm when I get in and have not seen significant reduction in miles / kw- running in the 1.9-2.1 range (higher temperatures it runs around 2.1 to 2.5), with heated seats and low fan on HVAC. Temperatures in the 10-35 degree range. Maybe a 20 mile reduction on the guessometer, than warmer temperatures. Will see this weekend temperatures going down to below 0. Great truck have had no issues 11K on the odometer.

I never need to use the pre-conditioning option.
I use my Apple Watch or iPhone Ford Pass app and start it up 10 minutes before I leave. Always turn on and heats up with no issues. Just thought I would pass this along as a possible solution to automation programming. I have found any intermittent wifi to the vehicle can also push any pre-set programming off.

I have had no issues with departure times using the Ford Charging Station. I did , initially have to delete the departures and charging station and reset once, but it seems to be working fine.
I had the issue show up using the Ford Mobile charger as well, so I don't think the charger is at fault or I have two different charges both with the same issue. I am going to do a hard rest this weekend by pulling the 12 volt to see if that helps.

I use the Ford pass app to remote start when the pr conditioning fails, just would be nice if it worked as it should. Overall I love the truck and this is a minor issue that I hope will get resolved soon.
