So it won’t have any deliterious effects?
IMHO, not as much as repeated plugging and unplugging the 14-50 plug has on the receptacle. Or, the repeated exposure you have to being shocked (or live testing a GFCI) while repeatedly pulling the plug.

No. The unit is designed to sense when it is plugged into the vehicle. When it senses a connection, it will negotiate charging speeds with the vehicle. Once disconnected, it will stay asleep until it senses the next connection.

The only downside is a bit of vampire drain. I’d guess it’s less than keeping your TV plugged in.

The minor cost of vampire drain is way better than the wear of unplugging and plugging the charger. The outlet is not designed for daily plug and unplug, unless you want to tighten to screws or nuts monthly. Failure of the outlet will happen on loose connections.
