I am currently placing my Ford Lightning build order, and am stuck on whether or not to order the Power Deployable Running boards. They are a $255 option, which seems very reasonable. I know there were supply issues previously. Any thoughts on these? Thanks for any help you can provide!

One downside with the deployable running boards is that you don't get the zone lighting that's built into the fixed running boards. I probably would have optioned the power deployable boards if they were available for my MY22 Lightning, though. I think the wiring for the lights is still there so you could probably find an aftermarket lamp to get the lighting in that area.

Oh hmm I didn’t realize that. I picked mine up from dealer inventory and was bummed I don’t have power deployable running boards. However, the zone lighting feature is actually wonderful for my yard-parked truck. I’ll often turn it on to take out the trash at night or investigate what our dog is barking at (usually a bear or coyote near the yard).

The side zone lighting provided by the running board is definitely making a difference compared to just having the mirrors for side illumination.

My only gripe is that they don't turn on automatically when in reverse--I'm sure there's some sort of NHTSA regulation against this, but it would be so helpful to have that side illumination.

Has anyone seen a Lightning with the Factory power running boards? I've searched the internet like crazy but cant find one. A few aftermarket ones installed, but nothing I can find that is stock.
The power running boards are a deal breaker for me. I have them on my Ram 1500 and they are amazing. I wont order a truck without them. I confirmed my Lightning order last week, production scheduled for Dec 12. (Lariat ER). Hoping they look good and are as efficient as the Ram's.

Why do you like them so much?

Extremely easy to get in and out. The step deploys halfway between ground level and the truck floor, which is very functional. The fixed running boards are too high up to be functional, all they do is get your pants dirty as you step over them. Plus I have to drive my Mom on occasion, she is in her 70's and without the step, would not be able to get in and out easily.

My parents are in their 80's and both were able to get in and out of the truck very easily with the standard running boards. I think the placement height on them is very usable.

The power running boards were not available in 2022. You will only find them on 2023s.

That is incorrect. I confirmed my Lariat ER order on 11/15, scheduled for production 12/12. Just this morning, it was pushed back to 12/19 production.
"Power Deployable Running Boards w/ Black Accent" was indeed an available option for $250, which I selected, and its confirmed in the summary with pricing. So Ford has reimplemented them again. Whether they actually get delivered... remains to be seen.

Yes you can select them and order them but you might not get them 100%

I'm really curious if these will get installed. I really wanted to put them on my order, but the "Late Availability" really scared me away. I'll be bummed (for my sake) if it doesn't delay builds - $250 is consideraly less than aftermarket options.
