The Ford Pass App is not updating for some 2023 Lightning owners. I have had this issue since delivery. The app has only connected one time to download OTA 4.1.1 and since then it only updates if fuse 32 is pulled. There seems to be mixed success with the dealerships resolving the issue. I am trying to gauge how many members are actually affected.

I think you’re mixing up terminology. The Ford Pass App is on your Phone. I think you are talking about the Power Ups.

I thought this at first, but then references fuse 32 so I think this is asking if the connection between ford pass and the truck is updating, or if it's frozen like it is for many '23 owners.

I've got a '22 & iOS, so if the poll is only relevent to '23s, sorry, I voted 'Updating'.

If this 'updating' is referring to what the FordPass app screen shows, a swipe down forces an update between iPhone and truck. It's quick if the phone is in Bluetooth range of the truck; a lot of blue spinning if it has to update any other method. But, eventually it works. I've always thought it was a matter of how deep the truck is sleeping.

This happened to me back in November (I have a '22), I got on a Ford Chat, they said they were going to escalate to engineering, and then a few hours later it started working again, I assumed they had done something. Then a few weeks ago they called to apologize for taking so long to get to it, and were going to get after fixing it. (over 2 months after it had been resolved). This is obviously a different issue than what the '23 owners have, but symptoms are the same. Won't update with swype down as Voltz suggested, mileage doesn't update, won't remote start/unlock, etc. I think on mine when it happened the "connected services" menu on the truck was grayed out. I can see why folks would be frustrated Many are pulling fuse 32 when it happens to reset. A few pulling the negative battery terminal. I did see one person had installed a disconnect on the negative battery terminal to expedite things.

There are a couple other threads on this subject ... but, since it's at the top of my list ... Took delivery on December 20th and the dealer could not get Ford Pass to work properly. I've been back to the dealer 3 times for this problem (they told me ALL 2023's have the issue) and the last time it was in for 3 days with an engineer from Ford diagnosing the problem one module at a time. He says I have a bad module. He also says it's on backorder with no date of expected delivery.

That said, Ford Pass does work a bit. Blue Cruise comes on but goes off unexpectedly and sometimes doesn't come on at all (I'm talking about driving the same roads where it did work before). My charge settings don't work; that is to say I can't set a charge limit of 80% because the truck just charges to 100% regardless of my settings in Ford Pass. This feature did work prior to the Ford Engineer trying to fix it. On a positive note, he did update my user interface while the truck was in so I have the newer interface that I've been lusting after since I first read about it on this forum.

Did you try adding a charge location/ adjusting settings via the truck?

Yes. I don't know what other things don't work that use Ford Pass to communicate with the truck but I'm sure there are other issues.

My other car is a 1993 F250 diesel so the first world problems associated with this truck do seem a bit minor. But since I paid so much for it I would kinda like the features that were touted by Ford to work properly. I suggested to the dealer that Ford just pull the part off of the assembly line instead of waiting for delivery from whoever that is that makes the faulty thing ..... crickets ....

I am at a loss what this thread is really about. Is it about the Ford Pass, OTA Updates, Charge Limits, Modules, Blue Cruise or what? People need to stay on topic maybe though the thread title is not even accurate? o_O

Swipe down in app or reinstalling app doesn’t update/refresh app.

Ford Pass is the communication between the truck and the owner. That's what it is about. The answer is "All of the above". The thread won't interest you if you are in a 2022. My understanding is that it's unique to 2023 (lucky me).

Sorry for the confusion!
The truck is the problem, the communication with Ford servers/Ford Pass is not working. Only pulling fuse 32 restores the connection which allows the app to update the charge level and restore remote smart features (start/unlock/lock)

Last updated March 4th when I pulled fuse.

I got the app synch again by unplugging the negative terminal. Same thing I guess. Will see how long this lasts!! I did notice one thing - The app stopped updating AFTER I returned home from a charge at EA fast charger! I will try this again next week to see if this repeats.

3X is crazy for this issue! Ford doesn't have a handle on this problem based upon posts in both Ford Lightning forums. It is unacceptable that Ford isn't reaching out to affected owners with updates. I charge frequently at public charging + EA and its a PITA when I can't tell the SOC in my Ford Pass App.

Is the bad module the Gateway Module?

My truck is scheduled to go into dealership soon for the TSB 23-2050 (Gateway Module) to hopefully resolve issue. Service phrased it "Have we tried this yet?"

I don’t know what module is bad. They said there were at least 8 modules that were being tested. I know nothing other than what I was told.

I just cancelled my service appointment for TSB 23-2050. I decided to wait until further clarification on what actually is the problem(s). Dealership can't tell me it will fix the problem and also how long they will have vehicle.
