Right now I'm in Medford,OR with my Mach E, on the way to Lake Tahoe. I left the Lightning at Fairbanks airport for 2 weeks with temps at zero and not plugged in. Hopefully, there won't be much to tell from that experience.

I'll do some major league cold weather testing over the winter and give a good report. The Fairbanks Mach E did fine down to -40. I expect the Lightning to do the same. One early observation: The Lightnings bigger inline heater than the Mach E (8-10kw vs. 5-6kw) makes a big difference in terms of rapidly warming up a cold soaked vehicle at below zero temps.

I have a Standard Range F-150 Lightning. I’ve had it almost 2 months now. It’s been great!
I have ordered and received the Ford Pro charger (it doesn’t come with the SR) and the Home Integration System from Ford/Sunrun. I was connected with Beaver Electric through QMerit to install both items. This will be Beaver’s first installation of the Home Integration ystem, but they say they have installed a number of Ford Pro Chargers.
Ford’s web site says, “Intelligent Backup Power software activation is included with the purchase of the extended-range F-150 Lightning battery or can be bought as a one-time purchase for the standard-range battery here.”
The word “here“ is a hyperlink to a page, after signing in, that says “SOMETHING’S NOT QUITE RIGHT”.
I need to get the Intelligent Backup Power software activation, but can’t find where I can pay the activation fee. I understand it is $500 and the upgrade is done over the air.
I have spent days trying to get the Intelligent Backup Power software activated on my SR Lightning. No one at Damerow, Landscape, or the 8+ Ford Customer service phone depts could help me.
Hope you can connect me to who can do this. Thanks!

The ability to activate Intelligent back up power finally popped up in my FordPass! I was successfully able to pay $500 to Ford for the upgrade and Intelligent Back Up power now shows on my Lightning in-truck screen! This coming Saturday, the electrician is coming out to finish hooking up the Hone Integration System. A few weeks ago, they hooked up the Ford Pro Charger and it charges fine, but the charger’s Wi-Fi isn’t working/visible. Will try doing a factory reset on the charger next Saturday, once the HIS is ready to go.

Ordered my Lariat mid Dec., hope to have it by May. I have been driving my 2018 Chevy volt around Fairbanks for 4 years now, most economical and best driving car I have ever owned. I hope the Lightning drives as well or better. Nothing drives like electric.

You'll love the Lightning here. I've had my Lightning Lariat here in Fairbanks since July. It handles great and doesn't care about the cold (other than the 40% range decrease). I've driven it to Anchorage in the summer and to Delta Junction at -35. It does take an hour or more to charge at DC Fast Chargers since most AK chargers are limited to 50kw.

The Volt uses engine for cabin heat below 15 deg. which gets awesome cabin heat. Does Lightning heat the cabin at -40? That really is my only concern, not worried about electric drive or electronics in the cold.
It sounds like your pretty happy with yours.

I'm extremely happy with mine. The Lightning is an awesome vehicle.

I've only found a few cold weather specific issues: 1. The factory OEM tire choices aren't the best for winter driving. I went with the ATs and their performance on ice and packed snow is ho-hum at best. 2. If the truck is outside and plugged in without a departure time set, and gets cold soaked, it does take even longer than an ICE for the cabin to get warm if you just jump in, start and go. If, however, you remote start using the Fordpass app, 5 or 10 mins before departing, the cabin will be nice and toasty. 3. If you are on a longish trip at -40, I've found there does come a point where the cabin heat does have trouble keeping up and, while the cabin never gets cold, it does become more luke-warm vs. hot. 4. (Related to #3) Ford has made some good improvements to cold weather performance of the auto-climate control system thru OTAs, but I still find it is better to manually control the heating. While driving at very cold temps, you don't want to let the fan come on at high speed because it will pull in outside air and cool the cabin too much.

Given your username, I'm guessing this might be Steven. I stopped by RES to give you a test drive when I was shopping next door, but you were out. I also wanted to talk to you about ways to get the Lightning's onboard Pro power to provide a recharge capability to my solar's backup battery using the generator input you guys installed. I got a grounding error on the Lightning when I first tried it. I think I know the solution, but wanted to discuss. I figured this would be a cheaper solution than using the using the auto bidirectional SunRun option.

Please tell me you didn't order a silver Lightning. :)
