I purchased my Lightning from an out of state dealership (Iowa) prior to moving to PA. I ended up sticking with that dealer and flying back to pick up the truck when it arrived. My dealer finally got the registration/titling completed for my current residence of PA. My question is does this truck need the PA state inspection as it is new? And if so, can a dealership perform that?
Thanks,
Sean

Yeah dealers in PA can perform the inspection, shouldn't be any different than the usual yearly stuff they get you for in PA. Likely they'll even just slap the stickers on the windshield since it's new.

In many states, brand new vehicles do not require an actual inspection. Make sure you are getting guidance from folks who know what PA requires. These things vary by state.

I'm in PA and have been my whole life. Every car needs an inspection sticker or the police will eventually pull you over for it. If it was bought in state it would have had the sticker put on when it was purchased. An out of state dealer can not do PA inspections that's why he's in this situation. Most counties in PA also require emissions inspections which vary greatly depending on what county you live in some it's just a visual and gas cap check some it's a full On board diagnostic check some rural counties don't require emissions at all. EVs don't have any emissions or anything to check so that's not required on the lightning. But every car in PA needs an inspection sticker to be legal. I believe if you buy a car out of state you have 2 weeks to get it done maybe 10 days I don't remember exactly. I'd just get it done so the police have no reason to stop you. the inspection is less then getting fined and it'll obviously pass inspection since it's new, the shop probably will just put a sticker on it.

Thanks everyone for the replies, and CurtisW speaks the truth….although I’ve been driving with a paper temp tag (long expired) for almost 3 months now with no issue. The dealer in Iowa did not understand my frustration with this but I finally got it. I’ll get to work on the inspection

thanks!
