My mannequin is not getting OTA updates. I know it was not driven much at the dealership. Ford Pass App says 3.5.5 is available. For the last 10 days I’ve been driving it every day and charging every night so I’m pretty sure the 12v battery is charged. I called Ford and they are going to push the update out because they show the 12v battery was low when it first tried at the dealership. Now comes the interesting part, the person I was speaking with went through my truck set up to make sure I had everything set up properly, which it was. Until she said the parking brake has to be engaged for the update to go through. I questioned her on the parking brake and she said she was reading it off her computer screen. I had never heard this before and wonder if it’s something new.
Hey Dal - How did you get in touch with Ford for this? I work at a dealership and they even tried to update mine via USB two days in a row and failed both times. Multiple errors reported, and I'm not sure what else to do. Still stuck on 3.5.4 from Dec 10. Did you ever get your update?

I spoke with a very nice person @Ford Motor Company that works at the Software Updates number (833-389-0848). Here are the requirements she told me:

  • Doors Locked (even though it is in my garage)
  • Headlights Off (not on Auto)
  • Park Brake set (that is a noisy process)
  • Have at least 80% charge
  • Be connected to wi-fi

Tried this today. 12v battery charged overnight with Noco genius2, drove a couple miles this morning, parked in garage with WiFi. Matched all of these settings. Nothing, again, still.

Rang the ford number you gave me (very nice ladies on the phone!) They are saying that the power ups are rolled out in batches of 200ish vins, and no one except the engineers know if/when they will be pushed. Said they cant see any errors, and the truck has successfully received all the updates that Ford has pushed.

Push harder Ford! :)

Well I followed their directions and did everything they said. I did not charge the 12v battery and they did not mention that as a requirement. The person on the line said that an update was being pushed that day. Nothing. I do not think these updates are coming over wi-fi. @Ford Motor Company I think there is a real issue with the update process. I do not have cell coverage at my house only wi-fi. I have been on 3.5.2 since the middle of September (I got this update while driving on a highway not at home). Bring back the USB update capability!

After a week of no updates I re-contacted Ford. The very nice lady said they still show low 12v battery but could not tell me if that was from last week or the original one on 12/16/2022. I’ve now got a trickle charger on the 12v battery (battery shows fully charged) and will wait another week. If no joy I’ll take it to the dealer and see what they can do.

I've been fighting with 22-PU1009-MIL-DTE for a few weeks now. I tried all the usual shenanigans - long drives, charging higher than usual, plugging the truck in for extended periods, etc. I finally hooked up a trickle charger to the 12V yesterday (it showed the battery was at 50%) and charged it to 100%. Still didn't work. I had the truck plugged in last night for my usual charge to 80%. For some reason, it went to 100% (now I have to get out there and drive it!), but the update went through. I hope Ford is working on this.....

Great! The trucks often go to 100% when a Power Up comes in. They also aren’t pushed every night, so just because you implement a solution doesn’t mean it will go that night.

So, 4.1.2 finally came through for me this afternoon. I did have the 12v trickle charger on last night all night. I was driving a lot today, stopped at the kids school for a few minutes. Came back out and the software was new. No HV charger. No LV charger. No WiFi. Middle of the day. Big battery state of charge around 50%
So strange. But hey, it’s at least doing something!! I don’t see the PaaK function though. It jumped from straight from 3.5.2 to 4.1.2 so, I will give it some more time and maybe touch base with Ford guide again.

PAAK was a separate update that came between different power-ups, keep trying!

I have tried all of those--the OTA rep on the phone did not tell me about the headlights--I will give that a try!! She also advised driving for 30 minutes (?) before an update. She did not mention a minimum low battery charge.

A successful update path for the previous 4 updates was the Lightning plugged in, and it sitting in range of my home Wi-fi. Truck defaults to 1AM updates. 3 successfully completed at home. This last major facelift came over the cellular modem while I was at work last Friday, 1/28 around Noon. Updating via cellular or Wi-fi is re-assuring.

Did you try using a trickle charger to boost 12V battery in Frunk? that has worked for several people.

I haven’t tried that. to be honest I didn’t realize there a[was a 12v battery in the trunk, and yet I find it a little absurd that you would , as an owner of a new vehicle, have to resort to such Nickle and dime methods to get an update to work. It shouldn’t be that difficult. I appreciate the info and will have to give it a try

I'd agree that it's disappointing, seems to potentially affect newer trucks more. I think it has to do with what level it charges that little joke of a battery to and what charge it needs to update. Really unfortunate that it doesn't charge while truck is plugged in. Seems like something that might be correctable via update, depending on if this is hard wired via run relay or not.
