Ford continues to struggle with iPhone as a Key so they will be delivering 2022 Lightings with PaaK disabled. It is scheduled to be activated this summer via over the air update.

What a bummer! But given the news we saw yesterday, better safe than sorry, I guess!
I wish they would develop this into Apple CarKeys NFC and give an option to skip the insecure Bluetooth Ford Pass app-based PaaK.

Wow, so I guess Ford is taking this report about hacking seriously. I want to know what they'll do to improve Phone As A Key.

Yes but the fobs can be hacked just as easily. See

They probably will in a couple of years.

I wonder if NFC is installed in current Lightnings?

Probably not but I don't know for sure.

As far as late summer goes what are we thinking August/September?

Don't be in a hurry. Ford is still struggling to get their PowerUp (over the air update) system running smoothly. They told Job 1 2021 Mustang Mach E buyers that Blue Cruise would arrive in the third quarter of 2021. The full public rollout is just starting now.

The good news is Ford has hired a lot of new software engineers, so I am optimistic the updates to F-150s will go faster.

Yep - but keep in mind they didn't say which year.

Nada. There have been a few Powerup SW updates, but no PAAK. Maybe soon.

Interestingly, a recent Lightning livestream talked about PaaK as though it was functioning.

It works on my Lariat. Picked up from dealership on Wednesday and was already on the latest software version. I’ve used it a few times.

What software version is that? I haven't seen any release notes that indicate it should work yet.

Ford Pass app version 4.20.0. Can’t figure out how to see latest software version on the truck. When I click on system updates in the truck it just says I have the latest version. Couldn’t find it on the ford pass app either. Here’s what it looks like on the Home Screen of the app

That’s what mine looks like for my Mach-E, but I don’t see any “set up phone as a key” button for my lightning yet in the app. Hm.
