My reservation was completed the day Ford opened the site and completed within 5 minutes of the site being ordered. I’ve received the same emails as others from Ford regarding Help us plan for your F-150 Lightning order and the confusing new reservations systems.

I have not had an email from Ford saying to start my order. But my local dealer called me and said my reservation had been picked and to come in and place my order. With an ADM of $7000. The dealer also asked if I had connections in FOMOCO as several managers and employees had put in reservations and none were chosen. I said no, just planned the reservation to be in the system asap.

My questions are on a ”normal” Lightening purchase, does Ford send you an email inviting you to configure the truck? When does the dealership come in? Does ordering the truck through the dealer lock me into the ADM?

Frankly I’m almost soured enough to cancel the reservation. I understand that if I order the truck and refuse the order after seeing it come in, the dealer keeps the truck to sell. If I were to cancel my reservation, would that also cancel the my dealership chances of getting it?

I did see I can change my dealership by calling Ford. And thankfully this forum has a naughty and nice list of dealers, so I’ll contact the nice dealers to see who is still selling at MSRP. I appreciate any inside or advice you can offer.

Cancelling the reservation means the dealer loses it too.
Moving the reservation to a "nice" dealer before you place your firm order is the way to go. Talk to the receiving dealer first and let them know you plan to move a reservation to them and confirm no ADM. Then contact Ford, move the reservation, then proceed with your order when Ford says it's time to place the order.
Good Luck.

Wait......

If you switch dealers now, you could lose spot in line. Wait until you get the online invite from Ford, then move the reservation to no ADM dealer. Do not complete the reservation online until you have the dealer moved. That reservation is yours until you place the actual order. I would not move until you get the online invite to order. Just play along with your current dealer until then. Just tell them your understanding if you will get on invite from Ford online, and once you see it, you will come in to do the paperwork. I think they are trying to lock you into a ADM hoping you are a sucker.

Exactly as @THEsocalledfan notes. Do not order in person at the dealership you lose site of everything. Get the email in hand and then call Ford and switch dealers. Find one tomorrow that doesn't charge ADM, get it in writing and then switch to them. Check your account online for the new dealership and then order.

Just please do not let the ADM dealer end up with a truck to sell.

I did exactly what the guys above described. I was super enthusiastic about the $10,000 ADM with my local dealer. They picked me as one of their "preferred" customers to order my Lightning. Soon as I received the email from Ford, I switched my dealer to a dealer 2 hours away that was selling at MSRP.
Truck coming in 3 weeks. Pumped!

Shoot, I was a day one reservation (within minutes as well). I got fed up by my dealerships lack of customer service and switched dealerships already. Am I really screwed? I thought my time stamp kept my place in line.

Your time stamp puts you in a line behind dealership priorities. those priorities were set almost a year ago, now the dealer can’t move the list around, so it’s a fixed list. The dealerships got a LOT of priorities, like 25 if they had 200 or more reservations tied to their dealership. But, what you can do is call the dealership with your time stamp and ask them where that would put you on their list. I moved from a smaller dealership where i was 12 on their list to a much larger one, where I am 23 but I am going to get to order this week supposedly because they are a larger dealership who gets way more allocations.
I think ford was using this wave system to optimize allocations as well. The dealerships that converted more reservations ultimately get more orders fulfilled. It’s a whole algorithm thing.

I can't rep this post enough. Here is a man (or woman?) who understood the game, and manipulated the crooked game in his benefit. I so flipping love it!
