Happy New Year all. When I completed my order at the dealership on August 29th my salesman said I would not be eligible for a state incentive because my transaction started when I placed the reservation on May 20, 2021. Indeed my pricing summary in my account showed no state incentive. That was until my order moved to Scheduled for production. At that point it showed $3900 incentive. The following is copied from the terms of the states incentive rules. “Agree that the entirety of the vehicle transaction, including any placing of an order, for an eligible vehicle must occur on or after the official launch of the FY23 Program on July 25, 2022”. I think I know what that means. But I’m hoping someone would have some input (preferably in my favor LOL). Would the reservation be included as part of transaction. I’m hoping the “conversion to an order” and official “deposit” on August 29th would be the initiation of the purchase. It would REALLY suck if my $100 reservation cost me $3900.

I’m going to do my best to find out who/where/how to contact someone to get concrete information to present my salesman. If the $100 refundable reservation would be included as part of the transaction. That $3900 could make or break my purchase. That’s enough to impact my monthly payment. I’m already looking at an increased monthly payment.

Is your MSRP under 55k?
Uhhhh, not likely. I believe it was posted here somewhere that options and the power cord are NOT part of the price protection. So with $6500 off of $59,474, then add $500 for the cord, $1200 (previously $1070) for the 9.6 Pro power and $430 for the tailgate step I’ll be just over $55k. I’m hoping I can sway my dealership to make the power cord a separate purchase. That would keep my MSRP under $55k. I believe it was also posted on the forum that the destination charge is also not included in the MSRP. So this may have all been a moot point.

And vehicles between 45k and 55k has a max rebate of 2,000.
I don’t know that I’ll ever get a reply to my email but I submitted a question to [email protected]. If I get a response I’ll post what they say. Basically asked if the “$100 refundable reservation” is considered part of the transaction. I wasn’t particularly counting on the incentive from the start. But when my account updated to Scheduled for production it changed from not showing any amount in the State incentive box to showing $3900. Then I was letdown when I saw I could only hope for $2000 since I’m over $45k. Now it looks like I might not get anything. Insert look of deflation here…😶

I live in Nj too and getting an XLT with Private Cash Offer to end up around $59k MSRP with both max tow and tow tech packages. The NJ state incentivize doesnt include destination fees so even without that $1,795 I’m still over by a few thousand over $55k and miss out on the $2k state incentive max for vehicles between $45k and $55k and $4k incentive for vehicles under $45k. That was only of the reasons I tried for the $40k PRO model but that ship sailed immediately haha also if you vehicle does qualify your dealer MUST also on the list as one of the qualifying dealers on the states ChargeUp website (which mine is, my MSRP is just too high). I have no idea where Ford is getting that $3,900 state incentive number because my order also says it too.

I got a reply from my email to the program. They said:
Dear Paul,

Thank you for your email. Per the Terms and Conditions of the program, "The order date shall be defined as the date in which the customer places a down payment of any sort on the vehicle."

If you had put down a monetary deposit before 07/25/22, that would unfortunately deem the vehicle ineligible for the program.

Sincerely,
Charge Up New Jersey Staff

****So I’m out no matter what my MSRP. Because of my $100 reservation on May 20, 2021.

I’d still ask your dealer if they would submit your purchase for the incentive because the reservation deposit from 2021 may differ from the order deposit paid after placing an order which may have be done after 7/25/2022. Here is my summary and curious if yours look similar. The end user doesn’t submit the application for the NJ rebate, that’s done by the dealer once the criteria is met. That’s IF your MSRP after removing your destination fees but DOES include (packages like tow/tech, Pro Power, paint upgrades, etc.)
