Looking forward to learning from this forum and hopefully becoming a Lightning owner. I have had a reservation in since Summer of '21 which I realize is not that long compared to some.

A dealer local to me has a '22 Pro that is allegedly going to come available early next month. The MSRP is just shy of $42K and then they are saying they will mark it up $10-$12K. Seems like there is almost a bidding war on these trucks.

I really need another vehicle stat. I am a builder and on top of that, I build high efficiency, high performance all-electric homes so "walking the walk" is pretty important to me.

Question for the forum is, are there any "tricks" to getting the dealers attention and getting a deal done on this truck that appears to be avaialble?

Is $54K for a base Pro model outrageous or is that going rate right now?

Look forward to what the group here has to say.

Finding any pro is hard to do but a $42 MSRP is a steal. Add $10k and it’s still decent, of course you’ll get the tax credit $7500 if it’s new

If you are really using the truck "as a truck" as you suggest, the SR pack will most likely disappoint. Since the Pro's are mostly SRs, due diligence on just how limited the SR pack is would be wise.

That said, the prices are coming down fast on this vehicle. Even my local dealer is selling for MSRP now, so I would not pay much of a markup.

I’m not sure what “as a truck” means but I think the opposite is true. Real truck stuff is local driving. Wether you’re going to a job site or making a customer house call. I’m not seeing roofers, siders, plumbers, handyman, etc driving 150-200 miles a day. We have trucks at our business that go out everyday to 6 to 8 different locations for testing work in our county. It’s stop and go slow driving for 4 hours with a total of 60-90 miles. It is the people not doing truck stuff and using the truck like a family station wagon for hauling kids on trips and vacations that are better suited for an ER.

The SR is not going to get you 200 miles in a day without hitting a charger under a number of real-world scenarios. Each person has to evaluate their usage against the vehicle's capabilities. There are a lot of trucks popping up for sale with the caveat of "damn, I thought this was going to work for me, but I did not understand the limitations".

The fix is to understand. Understanding before purchase is even better.

Exactly! That is why I said who of any of these types who work locally, like the great majority of the population, needs 150 -200 miles a day. Basically none. Meaning that an SR will do fine for truck work. And you didn’t answer what truck stuff is. I drove through a blizzard to pick up the kids. I went to tractor supply to get something that won’t fit in any of our other vehicles and then I went to fill up the gas can for the snowblower. Probably not truck things to you
Lastly I wish people would honestly post what they need to drive daily not the 300-500 mile trip they do once or twice a year. Sure there are a few but people on average drive 25 miles a day according to Alexa

My average day is less than 60 miles. I may have some occasional days where I do 80-90.
I rarely have more than 2 job sites going that are more than 25 miles from each other.

I would be looking to use the Lighting for weekend road duty with the family. We are in NE though and the furthest we go is middle Vermont maybe which is about 150 miles for us, maybe less. Most of our other trips are 120 miles or less one way.
