I completely fell into my new Lightning Lariat when the salesman called to tell me his buyer for the recently delivered truck had backed out. I stopped by that afternoon, took it home to be sure it would fit in my garage (did, just barely), went back to the dealership and told him he had just sold the truck!

I’m still getting my legs under me, first truck - have wanted one my entire life, but was waiting for all electric. Absolutely love it!

Don’t love the lack of customer service / mystery of “SunRun” - no idea when I’ll get my 80A charger. No contact from them. Ford says “don’t call us”. SunRun same. Evidently you just go on faith and it shows up. Makes me a bit nervous, but impressed with how well the 15/20A charger is working and tons of charging stations I can go to until then.

Any tips, I’m all ears on all fronts!

I would keep calling SunRun multiple times. I went through the same thing with someone walking away from a Lightning and I was next on the reservation list at my dealer. SunRun told me that everything matched to me as the owner of mine EXCEPT the email address. It took them 3 weeks and 5 phone calls from me to get that corrected and the charger shipped. I got it after 5 weeks of me pestering them. Everytime I called they said they had to verify my info and escalate it. After the 5th call after 3 weeks of calling it finally worked.

Best of luck - I've got the same '23 ER Lariat if yours is an ER / and was the 80A charger part of an option on the MSRP? Oxford white tri-coat & love the wheels - handsome & easy to keep clean-shiny.

Congrats on your truck! I have a 2022 Lariat ER. Fantastic truck. You will not be disappointed. I would not worry about the 80 amp Charger from Ford/Sunrun. They will send you an email when they are due to ship and follow up with tracking. Probly 2-3-weeks. Not sure of your particular situation regarding local driving habits etc but I found the Ford portable charger that came with the truck to be perfect for my needs. I had my electrician install a 50 amp 240v plug in my garage and I charge at off peak hours and it has been perfect for my needs. I did not need the 80 amp charger and the required 100 amp breaker so I sold on Ebay and paid for the 240v install in my garage. Enjoy your truck. It is an amazing vehicle in my opinion. 1 pedal drive mode is the way to go and I am sure you will learn much on these forums as I have about your new truck.

How much did you pay for the 50 amp 240 volt plug by an electrician - and do you get about 20 miles / hour for a charge rate - and do you have a charger unit interface or straight plug in to a wall socket 50 amp 240 volt?

I know you aren't talking to me, but I guess just so you get multiple data sets to go by. I had a 50amp break put in with a 14-50 NEMA outlet in my garage. Labor and parts and all was a little over $400. It's just a plug on the wall that your mobile charger plugs into. I plug in daily because I drive long distances to work every day. It usually takes around 9-10 hours to charge from around 20% back up to 90%. Ford Pass usually puts it at around 19 miles per hour charge. It's kind of weird, much like the guess-o-meter, because the ending total mileage goes up as you charge. When I plugged in last night it said that it would be done around 6:30AM with 233 miles of range. It actually hit 90% at 7:02AM with 287 miles of range. I'm not sure why it does that, but if you aren't driving long distances that shouldn't matter for you.

* Let me caveat something though. That $400 dollars was running the wire through conduit instead of drilling through my walls. I didn't see a reason to pay more to have them drill into the walls when I'm putting it in my garage and don't really care about the conduit being visible. If you have them run the wires through the walls it will obviously be more expensive. So, I guess this is just food for thought on your options.*

Thank you so much! That is the same I paid for a simple plug in/wall drill below my breaker switch box & am getting the 19m/hour same as you! There was no miles/hours advantage to get a "charger unit" unless you had to have its software use for $1500 extra! In cold garage weather I plug in to the 120v 4m/hour to keep the battery warm per my dealer's / manual recommendation - do you do any of that? I'm in a hydroelectric town basically getting free electricity with solar & low costs.

So, I'm waiting for some quotes for the pro station charger install. I'm not in a hurry because I have the mobile charger, but with me driving so far for work I want that convenience of being able to plug in and get the 6-hour charge to 90% when I need it.

I don't plug into the 120v though. Because my schedule during the week is pretty consistent, I have departure times set. It warms the battery and uses the electricity from the wall to get the interior temp and everything where it should be instead of waiting until I'm using the battery to get it there. My electric costs isn't the lowest. I think we are at about 13 cents per kWh.

My 50 amp 240v install was more expensive because of the length of the run of the wire from my breaker box to my garage (100ft) and I did have it run through the walls for a cleaner install. Cost me $1200 with 80% of that being the cost of the wire. I plug the portable charger that came with the truck straight into the wall socket. I get approx 15/18 mph charge rate which is fine for my needs. I sold my 80 amp charger from Sunrun on Ebay for $750. Received $250 from my electric provider for installing a home charger. Received a $350 IRS Tax credit for installing a home charger. So I actually came out ahead on my $1200 install cost.

So I never heard a peep from SunRun. No call (as the dealer had sad should happen). No email. It just showed up one day about 2 weeks after I took ownership of the truck. Got it installed this week for under $2K, which given how far they had to go with the copper line (Copper is very expensive right now) didn’t seem bad. Up and running!
