1. Agree, lame. Easy to fix though. Get a Viofo A119 v3 and a Dongar adapter and run it straight off the rear view mirror power. Probably get a much better video feed than Tesla give you anyway.
2. Remote start does this.
3. Meh...

Oh boy, I really tried to leave this alone, but obviously have failed.

So many memories from the 1970s of piggybacking off of circuits to add gizmos and gadgets of our own to our hot rods. Not a second thought about it. There's power there, why not use it?

Today's computer guided circuits are an entirely different animal, and many of them are getting pretty sophisticated. We could now fill days and hundreds of pages on why or why not to do this in a modern vehicle, but I'm going to just leave my advice as this:

DON'T

There is a factory installed auxiliary circuit in most modern vehicles to use if you want to add something like this. It's there for a reason, use it.

There. Now people can do their own due diligence and make their own decisions.

This really isnt anything hacky at all. The power splitter for rear view mirrors has been around for a long while now. No problems have been reported. Just look at the Amazon reviews on MANY vehicles for that Dongar adapter.
