I took delivery of my Lariat Lightning EB on Saturday, 16 July 2022.

As expected, the 80A Charge Station Pro was not included with the truck. On 21 July 2022, I received an email note from Sunrun wanting me to verify my shipping address so that they could ship the 80A charger to me. I verified my address as requested, but I have not received a tracking number or any kind of notice that the 80A charger is on the way.

Just for grins, I tried out the Ford mobile charger at home on Monday, 18 July 2022. It was easy to connect and use; however, it was dismally slow. Here’s the results:
Charging time: 7 hours, 44 minutes
Total charge added: 4%
Estimated distance added: 18 miles

Yesterday, 25 July 2022, I visited the closest DC fast charge location to my house (Chargepoint). I had already entered the appropriate information in the Ford Pass app to gain access to the free 250 kWh; however, the start date for the free charging has yet to be updated by Ford. I also created a Chargepoint account just to be on the safe side.

Arriving at the Chargepoint location, I discovered that the charging cord is fairly short, and I had to move my truck much closer to the charging station. I followed the Ford Pass instructions, but it would not connect with the charging station. Once I switched to the Chargepoint app, it connected right away. Here’s the results:
Charging time: 52 minutes
Total charge added: 46%
Estimated distance added: 151 miles
Charging cost: $13.10

Using my unscientific calculations, the mobile charger took 25.8 MINUTES of charge time to add one mile to the truck. The DC fast charger added one mile to the truck every 20.6 SECONDS. The DC fast charger cost $0.09 per mile added.

My two cents worth...

That is about right for a 120v plugged in charger, you'd do better if you plugged it into a 220v plug. A 120v outlet is 15A, which is 1800W. The charger is down-tuned to not pop your breaker (PLUS losses in the box), so your charge rate ends up being ~1200W (1.2kW). Over 1 hour at 1.2kW, you will get 1.2kWh of charge. SO, you should get a little more than 2 miles/hr of charge, which seems about what you got.

The 120v charger is basically worthless/only for times when you can be plugged in for a long time (or need an emergency 1-2 miles). When plugged into a 50a 220v plug (11kW input, ~9.6kW output), you'll get roughly 20 miles/hr.

Electrify America was a smooth experience for me, but it charges $0.43 per kW. That’s more expensive than Tesla super chargers at $0.36 per kW. My main charging will happen at work, there’s a ChargePoint that costs $0.10 per kW. I’ll only use EA for road trips, I don’t even think I’ll get a membership

I use ChargePoint, at least for our Leafs, and don't have an account with them, I just use the 'guest' feature on the app, and enter my cc info, and go...

hopefully the Ford Blue Oval account will allow the 'plug n charge' automated feature to limit the amount of time spent on these 'other' apps...

I guess I need to read the fine print. :)
Lou, I enjoyed your post and glad to see the classic outlet did the 2 miles an hour as expected. I have an interesting situation likely next summer where I plan an road trip for a Canadian fly in fishing trip. I figure I'm going to be very low when I arrive, and was trying to figure out what I was going to do. Then, I remembered, that it is typically 1 kwh/hr on classic plug, and my truck will be sitting there like 5 days. 5 X 24 = 120 hours so about 120 kwh I should be able to add by simply plugging in. I figure that is going to work just fine if the outfitter allows me!

The Electrify America non-member rate is $0.43 per kWh. The Pass+ member rate is $0.32 per kWh. You can get the member rate for $4 per month and you can turn Pass+ on or off at any time. Alternatively, you can sign up for discounted charging as a member of the Blue Oval Charging Network through Ford for $50/year.

Is there any word on whether the $50 Blue Oval signup means Plug & Charge will work and bill correctly at Electrify America? To me, reliable EA P&C would be worth the extra $2 plus annual, instead of monthly, membership.

It’s supposed to be working now. Ford is doing some testing with existing Mach E owners to make sure it works in the real world.

Update to my earlier post, which stated:

"As expected, the 80A Charge Station Pro was not included with the truck. On 21 July 2022, I received an email note from Sunrun wanting me to verify my shipping address so that they could ship the 80A charger to me. I verified my address as requested, but I have not received a tracking number or any kind of notice that the 80A charger is on the way."

Yesterday afternoon (26 July 2022), I received an email note from Sunrun that said my 80A charger had been shipped from California via FedEx. The email note included the FedEx tracking number. My charger is expected to be delivered at my house on Thursday afternoon (signature required).

I notified my electricians, and I look forward to them returning to my house next week to mount the charger in my garage and complete the wiring job they started back in April.

We're getting down to it...
