Got a build date for my truck, Feb 20 (SR XLT, Iconic Silver) and need to prep my garage. Rookie question, what is the benefit of getting a home charging station? If I have a 240v outlet installed, I know I can use the mobile power cord (30 amps, 14 miles of range per hour). Besides higher amps and faster charge, what are the benefits? Can I control charging times with just the MPC? Thanks!

The Ford Mobile Charger on a minimum 40 amp circuit (50 amps is recommended) with a high quality outlet is a perfectly fine charging solution. The concern with an outlet is that routine plugging and unplugging could cause bad connections and excessive heat. If it's rarely unplugged I say go for it. You probably want to spring for an industrial outlet either way.

Lots of Mustang Mach E owners who tried to use the Ford Mobile Charge Cord as their lone EVSE have eventually had the EVSE fail after months of use. They haven’t been most reliable EVSEs.

I suppose reliability might be a good reason not to use the Mobile cord. If reliability isn't a big concern one might be inclined to try it. If it works you save $500. It's not like they are burning houses down... hopefully.😆

Has anyone tried a Tesla 80Amp Gen 2 wall connector on an ER?
I'm using one. I had the gen 2 set to 40 amps for my model S and I already had the 100amp breaker and service in place so I dialed the Tesla charger up to 80 amps. Charges a lot faster! Using with a Lightning version of the Tesla tap on my ER
