I was about to park in the garage and noticed a rather loud metal scraping metal sound on the passenger side. It sounded like worn out brakes. My truck has only 3300 miles so far. No idea what could be causing it. But I should probably take it in and have it looked at. I'll try to get a recording of the sound in case anybody else has the issue too. And of course will update once it gets diagnosed.

If you can figure out which wheel it is, usually pretty easy to take wheel off and find the rock.
I do this probably once per year, and it sounds terribly when it happens, but pretty easy fix if that's what it is.

I think you were right. It went away the next day as I was trying to figure out which wheel it was. In 35 years of driving you would think I would have faced this before. But I can't recall this ever happening.

I've only had it happen to me on Ford's. They have a metal guard around the caliper/rotor, I don't know that I've had that on other vehicles, but I swear it helps those little pebbles bounce in and get stuck. I think every rock I've gotten out has been about the same size also, but for those of us that are on gravel/road mix fairly often it does happen.

It's very interesting! I was driving a 2016 F-150 before and never had an issue. I'm on gravel road to the house now. And I live in the very rural northern california. They put down small gravel when it snows (often). So maybe this is something I'll have to get used too. I appreciate the help. I was thinking something drastic was happening to my new truck when I first heard it. Thank goodness it was only a pedestrian problem.

Definitely doesn't happen all the time, hopefully it is a one-off for you.

7k miles on mine, and I do drive on gravel for a short distance a couple times a week. This has happened twice to me, usually after taking it through a carwash after being on gravel. The first time it was so loud I had it towed to the dealer, but I checked it before and couldn't see anything, or any marks on the rotor. By the time it got there, it had stopped. The second time it wasn't very noticeable, and it stopped fairly quickly on its own. Only odd thing was that I'm used to this happening to the front brakes, and both times it was the rear on the Lightning.
