My Lightning Lariat ER has been built but not shipped yet. Considering cancelling it due to financial and principle reasons with the dealer's $10K ADM. Just seem like to much greed to me.

I asked my dealer rep when I reserved my truck back in May of 2021. He assured me that they won't charge my a penny over the MSRP. My truck should be here any day now so we will see.

You didn't know they were going to mark the price up when you reserved and ordered your truck?

I ordered it directly online at the MSRP I could live with, then came the dealer invoice with the $10K ADM. As I thought ford was going to stop these excessive charges, I decided to let it ride until I could walk in and try to work it out with the dealer who refused to negotiate it out.

Unless you really want the one you ordered because of color or whatever, do a search on Autotrader or where ever. There are plenty advertised.

Many on Autotrader will deliver a brand new one to you. Just to F&^* with your dealer, I'd tell them you want it for $2000 off MSRP. If you're cancelling, what do you have to lose? Hell, make it $10,000 under MSRP, then maybe meet at $2000 under MSRP.

If they say no, from the ADM dealership, and in front of the salesman, call the advertising dealer, and tell them you're on your way to buy. (Might want to call the advertising dealer before going to your dealer just to make sure it is available and it is priced as advertised first.)

The dealer knows what has happened to demand in the past month, and is hoping some fool is still willing to pay an ADM in this market. If he doesn't, he can advertise it all day long at with the ADM and it will just sit on his lot.

My local dealer has 4 in stock for standard MSRP. I would call the dealer and tell him you will cancel if they don't remove the ADM. Since Ford increased the prices, many have walked away and there is some inventory available.

If it's not worth every penny to you then don't buy. I think the market is flooding with Lightnings and the price will start to drop soon especially when other brands start coming out. My dealership has 3 that they can't sell partially because of the mark up. The MY22 were worth their price (better equipped, better price, better build). I really regret my 23 Lariat ER purchase. It's a truck that was advertised just over $70k a year ago but cost me over $100k now after add-ons, tax, fees. And that's with no ADM. I realize now that I will lose tens of thousands in value. Not just from depreciation but because of Ford's temporarily inflated prices. 2024 and 2025 will have more features and be cheaper because they will have to start competing.

Ford lowered the Mach-E prices because Tesla lowered the Model Y, "Responding to changes in the marketplace". Ford is only competing with Rivian for EV pickup so they increased the price to match Rivian. They don't care about the long term effects of their bait and switch tactics so my advice is wait until GM and RAM bring out they're pick ups and buy one of those. Then Ford will adjust after. I did not make a smart decision. I let Ford take advantage of me wanting to be the first one on my block with an EV pickup. I can honestly say I will never buy a Ford EV again.

Sorry it's so long winded but i was hoping my thoughts help you decide.

Just an update, my ordered lariat ER was naturally delayed with the stop order. No big deal at the moment. It is still listed as in transit on the dealer's website, as are the other two customer ordered trucks. It seems you are now unable to print the window stickers via the dealer's website. The other customer ordered Lariat ER that he walked away from is still on the lot @ MSRP + $10K ADM going on nearly 2 months now. Aside from the obscene ADM, I'm more inclined to walk away from this truck now given the initial problems stated here and elsewhere. Not a done deal yet!!!

Yeah... please don't pay ADM for these trucks. Rewarding these dealers for this behavior makes my teeth hurt.
