I actually believe the current tax credit and possibly the wording of the BBB legislation basically says to qualify the electric vehicle has to have at least one model that is below the set maximum amount (I think currently $80k) and this allows higher specked vehicles in the lineup to still qualify. Thus why you see the platinum trim showing “after tax credit” pricing on some of FORDs documents that have been circulating around.
BBB has wording that specifically sets an $80K limit. Please provide your references to legislative text that show there is an $80K limit in the current tax credit. I am aware of none.
