All the dealerships in my area are now charging at least $7500 over MSRP, I also do not want to wait another year/year and a half for a new truck. And after driving it for three months, I loved it, but I wish it had more range, not enough charging stations, towing my race car and trailer was a pain. And my California energy bill was going to almost cost me as much as I was spending on gas. My calculations with $4 gas were about 4-5years to break even.

I picked up a sweet 2021 Lariat Powerboost that is in excellent shape for $25K less, so just going to go back to ICE for a while. When I get the EV bug, I'll drive my wife's Tesla.

I've been wondering how car insurance covers a vehicle that actually goes UP in value. Sounds like they limit themselves to the original cost, rather than replacement cost?

My agent said they should replace my Truck at its current value, so replacement cost. Because the values are up. The Ins agency should pay more than MSRP if that is the going price. I'll lose taxes, but I'll still gain the tax rebates. Two of my other buddies who are agents said the same thing. I should find out this week.

I got an alert on my phone that charging was not complete, even though he was just driving. So the crash did something the charging system that sent out an alert. His phone was connected to Car Play and 911 was automatically called.

Glad you son is okay. I'd be curious what happens to a salvaged battery from a wreck like this if it is undamaged. That's a very valuable "part" that might still work just fine.
