I've been in the Dallas area for the last few days and yes the roads are as icy as the national (and local) news stations are saying. Coming from Maryland where we have often received nasty ice and freezing rain, I have real experience with these condition. We drove back about 40 miles yesterday in the area that received the worst of the sleet accumulation along with freezing rain. Today we did about 40 miles roundtrip on roads largely covered with ice.

Driving our Lightning on the icy roads has been a white-knuckle experience, as it should. That said, our Lariat ER with the stock All-Season Generals has been the most sure-footed truck and one of the most sure-footed vehicles I've owned. The only vehicle more sure-footed on ice was our Subaru Outback with Blizzak winter/snow tires we had living in Colorado and for a while back in MD. I watched multiple trucks and a few cars spinning out or unable to ascend minor grades. One pickup truck we were following fishtailed four times, once turning sideways across the road. Sherman only had a few minor bobbles and one brief slide I was able to quickly arrest.

That said, we will not be hitching up the travel trailer and heading west tomorrow as planned. Sure-footed is one thing but towing a trailer on ice is another.

I’m in NE Oklahoma and having the same experience, probably should read recent posts before creating new ones! I should be white knuckled around here but man does this truck provide some ease of mind (I am and will of course continue to be vigilant when I have to go out, but damn!)

Welcome to Dallas. It's worse here than initially forecast. It was supposed to be a one day event. It looks like now frozen through Thursday for sure, should start thawing on Friday.

I don't usually have a problem getting out and going whenever I want, but I must say with a truck that may not be easily repaired or replaced, I'm staying home. Too many others that just won't respect it and slow down and I don't want to be in their way.

Hoping you stay warm and the trip doesn't have too much of a delay. Are you in an RV park or able to find charging? We only have 4 EA chargers and they are on the fringe. If you are in the North Dallas area and need a charge just holler.

Thanks. We're up in Ray Roberts State Park. The RV is on the 30A circuit and the Lightning is on the 50A circuit. We're getting all rain here now so I think we'll be able to head out tomorrow.

Totally agree. We caught this ice storm as well in southeast Missouri. You can break the Lightning free, but you have to get into the skinny pedal pretty hard. I’m super impressed, even with the stock street Generals!

I have also found that for the Lightning, like the Mach E, one-pedal drive is great on slick roads. The ability to use regeneration to gently slow the truck is awesome.

I live in the north and am constantly driving on snow and ice for the past 30 years. The lightning has tremendous weight on the tires and handles better than a standard f150. HOWEVER, once you lose traction, you are going to lose it much deeper and it will be harder to recover. I'm not into the 1 pedal drive but i've found the regen system works great and kicks off at the first sign of slippage.

Just a warning about parking, I'm pretty darn sure that when you put the truck in park/ebrake, the front wheels still freewheel. Yeah I know no ebrakes ever hold the front wheels, but a 4WD in park should hold the front... The reason I know this, I snow plowed the top of my driveway, backed up the vehicles, parked/ebake. I went inside for a minute, came back out and realized the lighting slid all the way back down the drive way. I got lucky as it didn't hit anything.
