seems like this will leave quite a bit of 'wiggle room' for range-anxiety owners... almost 10kwh more in the battery pack than Ford says is 'usable' battery power... might be nice in an 'emergency'...

TOM M from 'state of charge' gives us a great video bearing out the 'extra' KWH power that is really still available, even after passing '0' miles available... start at minute 7:29 for the 'last mile'...

it still had power, he could still put the pedal 'down' if needed, and probably could have really driven more miles ...

The electronics powered by the 12volt battery must completely shut down the big battery to retain some energy in the big battery?

Say you got stuck in a snow blizzard and you discharged the main battery completely trying to get out, followed by using phones, etc Is the most expensive part of your truck toast?

There are protections in the system to prevent complete depletion and the damage that would result. The battery should be charged as soon as possible after such an event.

The next "full size" pickup will surely look much different, Farley has already announced that. This years ER trucks are packing 1/4 ton of extra battery weight all the time compared to the SR models, just to give half the range of a standard F150. If pickup weight drops and aerodynamics improve, we will not need that 1/4 ton of extra battery to have decent range. In addition, the battery science is changing monthly, and the next generations of batteries will likely have more energy per pound too.
I am waiting until Fall of 2023 for my SR Pro; knowing that I am purchasing a transition model that will soon be obsolete long before the 8 year warranty expires, but it seems the right thing to do as long as I don't spend a fortune on it.
I will be happy to use it on 150 mile jaunts between charges. That will provide 85-90% of trips, and I am keeping a ICE vehicle for now for those longer trips. Buying the cheaper SR Pro provides that flexibility.

ER is SR+, next Ford full size truck expected in 2025 should have much more range. In my opinion.

Where has Ford said this for a future full size pickup? I've heard Ford announce that for their next pickup but don't recall Ford ever saying that truck would be a full size. My best intel is that it will be a mid-size (Ranger-class) pickup built from the ground up as an EV.

Farley has so many youtube interviews ... I can't find the one where he said some folks won't like the new pickup. But this one:

Includes statements about a totally new pickup. My first thought is the 1964 Ford Falcon Ranchero I drove working as a farm hand running for parts.

Right. He says all-electric pickup truck. He doesn't say it will be another full-size.
