As a lifelong car enthusiast who's owned a wide range of cars, I've joined basically every type of car forum, and all of them bring some interesting characters.

However I've never seen anything like Lightning discussions in a regular F150 forum. It's hard for any real conversation to take place without some political take entering the thread.

I'm currently only on F150forum, has anyone had any experience in general forums/groups with their lightning yet?

As far as I can tell I'm one of the only people on that forum with a Lightning.

isn't it strange how some of us just can't seem to 'stomach' an all-electric truck? You'd think someone who does is akin to the first person to ever own a Tesla! Well, we know where that's gone, right? Tesla is becoming more and more a less than 'strange' vehicle idea, and maybe is moving into a more regular sighting everyday, and maybe even your neighbor has one. The Lightning will be the same, especially as more manufacturers take on developing these new rides.
No, everyone will not be your friend. Don't know why it's such a 'big deal' for some to have to hatefully comment on, but I've seen it myself, in my own family. Crazy. It's just a vehicle. Interestingly, too, it looks almost identical to theirs!

I posted the announcement of my new truck on the NoBoundaries travel trailer FB group. I talked about looking forward to my first trip towing the trailer. Boy did the trolls come out! Most of them were equipped with torches and pitchforks. Fortunately, most of their weapons were the same old tropes that have proven to be false and easy to dispel. Prepare to be loved by some and hated by others.

We are emotional, irrational creatures. The truck won't meet everyone's needs - especially gen 1. Doesn't deserve the hate it gets over there and on the facebook group but who cares. I don't need more than the lightning can provide and I've avoided an ICE truck for a long time because I don't need all that it can provide more than the fuel costs. Just like my desire for the lightning shouldn't trigger ICE drivers, their disdain doesn't change my opinion.

Crazy...I agree it's not for everyone but you'd figure that side of the political spectrum would find some reason to embrace the lightning...reducing our energy dependencies from foreign countries, reducing costs at the pump, American made, outrageous performance, etc.
I'm very much from that political side of the spectrum, and big, big reasons I'm all for it. You nailed it! The one thing I run into is the legit issue we have with DC fast chargers in states like SD where I live. I can't argue with them on that as they are correct. Basically impossible to use in rural areas, if you plan on driving/towing significant distances, particularly in winter. Personally, since I live in the one metro area, I tell them should not be an issue for me, other than when I drive to Fargo. (and hopefully more chargers get built before I get my truck....south dakota is just putting in for the EV money from Biden)

I wonder how many oil shocks this country will survive and blame on everybody else (environmentalists, president, Arabs, Saudis, Exxon, Russia...) before we start blaming ourselves enough to start solving the problem with our buying decisions.

I'd be a very bad politician, as I always say we need to reduce consumption, and increase production, domestically. I'd be thrown out of both parties.....

Yea I didn't bother joining the other one. Not because of this issue but I came here first cause I wanted to know about the Lightning and then I didn't want to +1 my forum memberships.

I had some asshat in an F-150 giving me a hard time when I was sitting in my Tesla minding my own damn business. Just looked at him and shrugged, "sounds like a you problem, bro... nice F-150 though! I like it!" He ended up with a pretty dumb (confused) look on his face. Haters gonna hate! I'll let them lose sleep over stupid shit while I just enjoy life, its too short to be bitter about every damn thing, esp stuff out of my control. Sure, I got problems, but the price of gas aint one of em. :D
